Frustrated!
Greetings everyone... I hope I posted this in the right section. I am looking to vent and get some friendly advice.
I just returned home from an appt with a new Dr. and I am feeling even more frustrated then when I went there.
Allow me to give a bit of history... 1 Lap in Aug of 2004.. removed all endo that was found. 2nd Lap July 18th of this year (endo started to return in late April but became severe in June) and left two adhesions on my colin. Once I healed from the lap. the pain came right back... and with a vengence.
Of course my OBGYN wants to put me on Lupron.. and I am deadset against it. Now here is the problem.. I would like to get a hysto.. I am going to be 32 at the end of this month... I, nor my husband of almost 5yrs wants any children.. and I am living in pain every day. Not to mention our love life is ziltch... and has been for the last 3mos (poor Hubby).
The new Dr. today also said that Lupron is the next step and must be taken... ARG!
I guess I am just over the pain and lack of living and whatnot.. sorry to have rambled on... SO.. any suggestions or ideas on another step?
Thanks!

Get a second opinion if you can. This Dr might not want to rush into it because of your age..he could think you may change your mind. I agree, you have to do something. I didn't have endo, but I had polyps that kept coming back with a vengeance, and I'm 46 so my dr was ok with it. My sis is 57 and has been going thru meno for yrs and is fed up, wants a hyst and dr (same as mine) won't do it because she's almost done. Some drs don't understand what your going through especially if they're male! Good Luck

Thank you... both OBGYNs have been male so far.. and both are insistant on the Lupron... so not sure if it may be a good idea to discuss with a female Dr or not.. Never thought about it.
As far as the age thing goes.. its soooo frustrating to keep having the age thrown into the mix. Mainly because even as kids neither of us wanted kids... and we have dicussed it TONS over the 8yrs we have been together. IF for some reason we would ever change our minds we have already decided to adopt anyway... (the idea of pregnancy is a no-go with me.. lol)
At this point I think I am just more upset that I don't really have a say as to what to do with MY body. It's a helpless feeling.

Hang in there TribalDragon,
I would go for another opinion. You already seem to know what you want you just need to find a dr will to listen.
Good luck,
Mac

Problem is... the $30 copay for each visit... think I could just call up Dr. offices and ask.. can I have a hysto? lmao
Right now doing some major research online to find recommended Dr.s to start calling... sad thing is.. the one I saw today just did a friend's hysto in April.. and he made a comment about my age and not wanting to me a shriveled up old lady at my age. She is only 32!! What a way to talk about your paitents!! Needless to say... not happy with that comment at all.

Oh man,
thats tough. I have the age thing on my side since I am already 41. The one thing I dont understand is this, once you have the ablation you should not have kids (atleast thats what my dr said)
What is the difference between deciding never to have kids for the ablation and never having kids for a hyster? I know the difference in the procedures since I've been lucky enough to experience both.

Another reason dr may push Lupron is protocol. I know for me, the first time the polyps appeared, a hyst wasn't an option and the saline sonogram and biopsy had to get done before the D&C. If the biopsy came back cancer of course, take it all. Thankfully it was ok but I had to do that 3 times to finally agree to take it out. And it was part of the protocol...those steps had to be taken each time..I'm sure alot has to do with insurance

AND what about confidentiality!!! That's not even legal!! I already don't like him If you are within driving distance of Atlanta, PM me, I can steer you to two wonderful doctors (and endo specialists).
Best of luck!

My DR recommended I do the Lupron shot and I refused. Between doing research, a second opinion and careful consultation with my DR. I came to the decisions that were best for me. It's your body! Don't be afraid to speak up and find someone you feel comfortable with and who respects you and your wishes. Good luck with your research and decision making!

I did the lupron thing on and off for 4 years or so before I had a hyst no one wanted to a hyst on me because of my age until they were sure nothing else would work....As for lupron I loved it! My migraines, cramps and most of the pain was gone though after sex it was still kind of bad...Good luck
