Post-op almost 2 months

I had my surgery on June 24. I had everything removed. I am miserable. I am aggrevated, tired, have some real bad mood swings and I even have began to cry alot. I feel as if I am overwhelmed. I am a single mother with 2 sons (4,9). I am currently taking Evamist 2 sprays, Lexapro 30mg and Ambien 10 mg and Vistrial 25mg. My anxiety attacks and the depression has gotten worse since the surgery. Do anyone have any advice for me. I am just tired.....

Hi Donna ,I have two sons too.I had everything removed also. It is very hard. I feel just like you.I had my surgery a month ago.I take premarin.3 .When it starts wearing off,I feel miserable too. I need to make it higher. I take Ativan ( Lorazepan) at night, and it helps me with anxiety and to fall a sleep.I havent had no side effects from it. I been on it for two years .
Maybe you should ask your doctor to change your meds.It may really help.Im going to ask mine for a higher dose of Priemarin.I havent had any side effects from it so far.

Also I read the natural creams work for some people. I been thinking of maybe going that direction. But not sure.

I hope your Doctor can help you , Julia

Donna,
From the few posts I have seen here about Evamist it seems to be a very low dose of estrogen and may not be enough for those of us in surgical menopause. It can take some time for your body to adjust and to recover from surgery, but I found that my body needed more estrogen during the first year post op.

I would give your doctor a call and discuss tweaking your doseage or perhaps asking to try something else.

Hi Donna,
I am finding the same thing as you. I'm crying, tired and miserable. I have an appointment with the DR today to see if I can adjust the HRT. I am on the creams but I can't seem to get the dosages high enough. I am going to ask for the Premarin as I have heard that you sometimes have to switch around until you find the one that works best for you. I have felt marginally better since being on the hormones (I did not start taking them until 2 weeks post op) but it seems to be missing the mark. I have good days and bad days but I have yet to have a great day. But my bad days seem so bleak and it's hard to get out of bed and do anything.

Have you tried the Climera patch? Great since it does to the bloodstream, not the liver.

I spoke with my doctor today and he changed my hormones from 2 sprays of Evamist to Premarin 1.25x2 a day. I am so miserable...My stomach is staying upset like my nervous is really working on me. I hope things get better for you to.

Hi Donna,
I just switched to Premarin 1.25 once a day - I hope it works. I'll keep you posted. I hope you find some relief but it might take a few days or weeks so be patient. Good luck.
