Got my pathology report - good news and unexpected news!

I got a copy of my pathology report... GOOD NEWS...nothing cancerous, thank God... none was expected but always in the back of my mind there was worry...

Turns out not only did I have a fibroid the size of a honeydew... I also had endometriosis that was discovered during the surgery that had adhered my uterus to my colon and was so vascularized that I required a blood transfusion during the surgery...

Come to find out on the pathology report today, I also had extensive adenomyosis. Now before I got on this website (after my surgery by the way), I had never even heard of adenomyosis...

Turns out I was way more of a gynecological mess than I ever thought! My periods were always painful, from day 1 when I was 12 years old. I saw doctors for a while but ultimately I just accepted that that's what periods were like...and endured that for 30 more years!!! I can't even imagine what life is going to be like once I'm healed!

Doesn't it almost make you feel somehow justified. The first thing my doctor told me after the surgery was... "You REALLY needed this" when I asked her what she meant she said that in addition to the fibroids that I knew I had, I also had endometriosis and cyst's on my ovaries. She said within 4 weeks I would feel like a new person. Well, I already felt like a new person after about 1 week.

Ladies, it just goes to show us how strong we are. We have endured all of this for so many years. I don't know about you, but I feel like I have a new lease on life. Cheers! = )
