After my morning surgery, the surgeon came in mid-afternoon to fill me in on what had gone on. Ovaries were fine, left them in; had to take 1/2 the cervix; fibroid was wider than they thought, might have needed a transfusion ( I didn't); and yes, the left ureter was blocked even WITH the stent in it.
Basically, anything relating to the specifics of my case was addressed.
Maybe find out if the doc will visit after your surgery and update you. That's when you want your mom there. She will remember things that your anesthesia - morphine brain might not (trust me on this one!)
If you are SURE your mom will see the surgeon afterwards, make sure she writes stuff down:
What was found?
What was removed?
How did everything look?
How did everything go?
How long was the surgery?
How long will you be in hospital?
When can you have all the ice cream you want? (just kidding!)
That should about cover it.
