It's my 2 year Hysterversary!

Earlier this week, I didn't think this is something I'd be interested in celebrating. You see, I've been having this nagging little pain in my abdomen for weeks now.

I had a routine follow-up scheduled with my gyn/onc a few weeks back. He didn't feel anything. He referred it back to my med/onc to get labs and scans, since I had an appointment already scheduled with him on Tuesday this week. So, I had the CT scans done 2 weeks ago, and labs drawn last week. its' always a nervous week for me waiting to get results. This time was better (less anxiety) and worse (I was pretty sure soemthing would show up, due to this pain thing).

First, my appointment got changed from Tuesday morning to Tuesday afternoon. No biggie. It's just a few more hours to wait. I asked for my lab results. I don't like surprises when I walk into the doc's office.

My CA125 was 100. Not good. My head was in a bad place. Cancerhead gone wild.

They called Tuesday morning to re-schedule my appointment for Friday. Ack! That was longer than I could stand waiting to hear the CT scan results, so I asked the secretary to have the Dr. call me. I didn't think he would. He really to discourage what he considers over-reaction to lab results. Yeah, well -- HE doesn't have cancer! It's not HIS life we're talking about!

He called late yesterday. The scans show what appears to be a benign-looking cyst on the pelvic wall, right where my pain has been. No enlarged nodes anywhere. No ascites. Just the cyst. Breathing sighs of relief -- even though it could still turn out to be malignant.

Now it's back to the gyn/onc for follow-up testing (MRI and/ro ultrasound advised by the radiologists), and hopefully doing something about this thing, because the pain, even though it's been minor, is getting more persistent. I'm ready to be done with it.

So, tell me ladies -- was I overreacting to those lab results? I know waht Ellen's response would be: Never waste a good panic. Oh well -- maybe I'll get used to this someday.

Anyhow, today is something worth celebrating, and now I'm even feeling like partying.

It's my 2 year Hysterversary!

Congratulations, SisC, on your two-year anniversary of your new "normal" life. Cysts are everywhere. Wouldn't you know they'd show up and give you a good scare, just when you'd like to move on. I'm glad they tested you. Over-reacting? We all handle things how we handle them. I've become more of an "I don't wanna talk about it" kind of reactor, tending to want to mull things over, read some, mull some more, and then decide if it's worth a good panic. I hope you have something special planned for this evening. A nice walk, a nice shower or bath, a nice something. Two years is awhile, and each day along the path, well, is a good day. I hope you take some time to party!

Wow SisC what a roller coast ride - I think I would have reacted just as you did including the instinct to party!!! once you knew it was all clear. I try to heed Ellen's advice, too, about not wasting a good panic, but honest it's hard sometimes. I'm so glad to help you celebrate!! Pass the confetti!!
