Scared about my recovery (kids mentioned)
Here i am about a month before i have my LAVH on sept 19th... i am not worried about the acutual surgery (yet). i am freaking out about how i am going to take care of my children after my hubby goes back to work ... i am glad he is getting to take off 2 weeks but that is it... then i am going to be all on my own with 8 kids 5 of wich are in school and 3 are at home still .... the 3 that are at home are 3 yrs old, 2 yrs old, and almost 1... and i will have NO help once my husband goes back to work..
i am wondering what my limitations are going to be after 2 weeks out?
how the heck am i not going to bend over.... and mess up my insides ..
ok i can keep on going with all the what if's but i will just stop there
thanks for listening

I know I am suppose to be giving you help and advice but after reading your post (8 kids wow! You are superwomen, really, what a stong women you must be, I am a little envious!) I have nothing to worry about. I hope all goes well for you!

Scared about my recovery (kids mentioned)
Wow 8 kids thats a lot. I had my adominal complete hysterectomy on the 12th, I have 2 kids my son who is soon to be 9 who has been a great help and my daughter who is 9 months. My son has did a lot for me in this time. Almost 2 weeks on Tue it will be two weeks. I do bending it doesnt hurt me and lately I have had to do some minor lifting of my daughter which does bother me but she is 24 pounds. So I guess what I am saying is if all goes well you sould be fine. I was up and moving the same night as my hysterectomy and been going scence with lots of sleep when I can get it lol. GOOD LUCK I think you will do great heck you have been raising 8 kids.

Scared about my recovery (kids mentioned)
I am a mother of one. & he is two this sunday! I am nervous and worried of who will help me when my DH goes back to work on monday. My surgery was just 1 day ago. I do know that the LORD will provide! Are there any friends that can come by and give you a hand through out the day?? You & your familywill be in my prayers. I had the same kind of surgery you are going to have and I have 3 very small incisions. I am feeling pretty good considering I just got out of the hospital. I hope this is some kind of encouragement...also within this month while you are waiting ask family & friends if they are willing to help and if they would like to, sometimes you'll be surprised.
God Bless you! You will be in my prayers

I'm a weirdo i know it ... but i have never had any surgeriesat all .. all my birth were vaginal and 6 of them with out and drugs. the last 2 i said forget that i am not liking the pain anymore and i took the epi. can we say HEAVEN i said i should have done that from baby #1 lol
Daisy_liz... i have a few friends that live close but they all home school and that is during the time that i would need some help. my husband get off of work @ 1pm and is normally home by 2pm. and my mom works and can't take time off of work and she lives over 45 mins away from me... but i think i am going to just talk to them and see if they can help if i need it ... i never have asked for help before because of my kids.... i just have this thought that people must think well if she can't handle 8 kids then why did she have them ... i know nutty

Ammy,
What about hiring a babysitter/nanny to take care of the kids at home while you're recovering until your husband gets home at 2 pm?? Would that be possible?? I realize that this might not be possible but I wanted to give it to you as an option.

Scared about my recovery (kids mentioned)
I have three 3 year old girls and they have been a big help to me. Get the older kids to help with the younger ones. WEAR A BINDER. This helps hold your muscles in and makes moving around more comfortable. Have kids sort laundry and hand to you to put in, etc. My 3 year old was bringing up a basket of laundry from the dryer. Microwave meals. No picking them up. This is the time you will see what their true potential is let them amaze you. Lots of praise and keep reminding them why you aren't doing it. They have amazing sympathy that has not been tapped into yet.

I must agree with dottie, I only have one son who is turning 4 soon, but he has been wonderful. I had a LAVH and have the three sets of stitches and I am just sore so far, but EXHAUSTED. NOW, that having been said, I do not think that you should be lifting anything until the doctor says it's okay and I think that'll be your hardest part other than being tired. Does your 1yr.old walk yet? That might be helpful so you wouldn't have to pick them up...eek, I don't know what to tell you, but I will tell you this: ask everyone you can, b/c if you can get some really good resting and healing time in the first few weeks, you might not be so exhausted when/if the time comes that your husband won't be there.
Love,
Jennifer
-these are my opinions only and you should always ask a doctor first!

Tinkerbell....paying for help is not an option. cost too much.
Jamajessie... lol yes i need a vacation
dottiemo... i was thinking about getting the tummy thing from here... wonder if that would work? is it the same thing? and about the older kids helping with the younger kids ... they won't be here during the day they are in school they get home after my husband.. the kids that will be home with me all day are the 3 yr.old the 2 yr. old and the 1 year old . and not too helpful and i have been working on being my lil helpers when mommy isn't feeling well.. and they are not quite there yet... i have sent out an S.O.S to my firends but no response yet..we'll see if they come thru for me.
JenRn 09... my 1 year old is not walking yet .. not even close to it .. and that right there is going to be the biggest hurdle.. and the whole changing diapers too ... since i have 2 still in them. i am plaining on not doing anything but lay in bed and rest the whole 2 weeks my husband is home and see if i can get some good healing done in that time.
Thank you everyone for the suggestions
Ammy
