Glad I found this site!!

I was so excited when I found this site. I wish I had found it before alot of my questions have been answered by reading posts. My story started about a year ago when I started having heavy periods. I was losing my energy level so I went to my family doctor for a check up. He ran test on my thyroid and iron levels. Everything came back fine so he said it was just my hormones since I was getting older (I was 32 at the time). Well I believed what he said . Then in June I had a severe viral infection nothing was helping it and I was feeling worse everyday. I couldn't even take 5 steps without being out of breath and feeling like I would faint. So the doctor ran some blood test and called me back to tell me my blood count was so low I should have been in a coma (5.2). He sent me to my OB When he did an exam he said my uterus was the size of a 5-6 month pregnancy. I spent all day having every test under the sun they found a large fibriod tumor. Then he told me I would have to have the surgery my condition had gone to far to try any other treatment. I had to have 2 blood transfusions and then I had a TAH/BSO on 6/29/01. Six weeks later I feel pretty good my hrt has just been increased it seems to be helping everything except the occasional and I still have alot of joint pain. Does anyone have any suggestions? Sorry this is so long it is just nice to be able to talk to other woman going through the same thing.

Glad I found this site!!

Hello and welcome Donna. Glad you found us. I had tah/bso March 2000 - had estrogen patch put on the day after surgery but opted to take daily pill when I got home. About 10 months after I started ERT my gyn. changed my estrogen to and estrogen pill that had some testosterone in it...and a few weeks later I started getting headaches and joint/leg aches. It could be that you're HRT is not the right one for you. I kept a daily log and gave my new HRT a month...but called gyn. back and she took me off that one and put me back on the first one. Some times it takes awhile to find the right one. The ladies in "hormone jungle" section can give you some more advice...since HRT is their speciality area.

Again, welcome to hystersisters.
