my ab binder is giving me a rash due to unusual conditions
I have been wearing my ab. binder to work, now mind you this is one I got from wal-mart and not from this site, and it is giving me a rash and it itches like crazy. My whole tummy is sort of pinkish in color right where the ab binder was. I think this is happening because of sweating under it even though it says it pulls moisture away from body. But my work place isn't air conditioned so I am sweating alot under it. Today at work I had to take it off because it was itching so bad under it, so it looks like I am gonna have to try to go with out. It wasn't to bad today with out it on, so I will see how it goes tomorrow with out it on all day. I guess I have to watch and make sure I don't bump the tummy it is still a little tender. But this really sucks, I really liked the support and it reminded me to be careful and watch what I was doing, not that I will forget that I had the hyst. but when I get to doing things sometimes I don't think first about what could happen, and with that on it just reminded me to take it easy. I just hope I don't swell up with out it on all day.

my ab binder is giving me a rash due to unusual conditions
Aware, Did you receive an ab binder from the hospital? It sounds like you might be allergic or sensitive to something in that particular binder. Do you know if you are sensitive to latex or other types of rubber/elastics? How about trying to wear the binder over your panties instead of directly against your skin?

I wore my binder over a light weight sleeveless t-shirt and was VERY comfortable with it. No direct skin contact. Maybe that might help. Best wishes.

I wore mine over my underwear.
That really made a difference. But - I haven't worn mine for about 3 weeks now and haven't needed it. I do tend to hold my hands over my incision when I'm around a lot of people.

I wonder if it's a heat rash?
If so, you might try using a bit of baby powder. If you can take a couple breaks away from people, maybe you can take off the binder let yourself sort of air out and then re-powder.

my ab binder is giving me a rash due to unusual conditions
No I did not recieve a ab binder from the hospital. No I am not allergic to latex, or the materials it is made of. Yes I wrapped it around part of my panties and I even considered wearing an under shirt ubder it but it is so hot in the plant where I work it would just make me sweat even worse with the extra clothes on, so decided not to do that. So todat I went with it. I didn't swell up any but I also didn't have any problem remembering that I had the Hyst. done because I started feeling a little sore. No pain just soreness. But my itching stopped. I think it was being caused by the sweat being trapped under it, or in it. So I guess no more support for me while I am at work.

Hi Aware,
Well I'm glad to hear you made out okay without the binder. Will it get cooler in the plant where you work come winter? If you still need support from it then, you might try it again. Take care of yourself at work.
