anyone take Ambien for sleep?

I've had some very good results with Ambien. My doctor prescribed the 10 mg caplets. I found that if I cut them in half, I did not feel as groggy the next morning. (You can do this with the regular Ambien, not the Ambien CR.) You really do need to devote at least 7 to 8 hours to sleeping. When you get up in the morning, it's best to sit on the bed for a few minutes before walking around to avoid having dizziness. Kitkat--the reason for the $35 price difference in the two medications is Ambien now has a generic, which is probably what you got. Lunesta is not available in generic.

Hang in there! Things should get better with time.

Good luck to all of you!

anyone take Ambien for sleep?

I have never been a good sleeper and after surgery....it was terrible... my mind was going 100 mpr solving all the worlds problems. Ambien cr has been wonderful so I can sleep and start feeling better. I have never slept so good! I get about 5-6 hrs a night and wake up refreshed! Dr said to take it a month of so so my one overy (which is working overtime to recover). One thing, take it and go to bed! My son and his friends are having a good time, coming home to catch me sound asleep with all the light and everything just a blazing! But they have been so good at looking after their mother! And they are really happy for me to go back to work on Tuesday! LOL!

Take care ladies!

I did not feel groggy this morning, nor was my stomach upset. I'd been taking it since Wed.

anyone take Ambien for sleep?

Hello Jan

I have also taken Ambien and I too felt a little nauseated and groggy the next morning. Mine is probably due to the fact that I can not get a straight 5-8 hours of sleep at night due to having a toddler.

Please make sure you pay close attention to any strange symptoms you may have. There is another HS here named Tallulabird who has posted some really strange things she did while on Ambien. Hopefully she will see this thread and have some input for you. Or you can do a search for her threads. Sorry I don't remember where she posted them at.

Everyone is different so we can react differently to the same medication. So please make sure you keep an eye on yourself and take it slow in the mornings.

I've taken it in the past and it's been great but lately I have been taking melatonin (hubby too as I moan in my sleep if I roll over apparently) and it's been wonderful. OTC and cheap so it works for me. I also feel rested without that "hangover" feeling that things like tylenol pm give me.

If you take Ambien, can you drink anything alcoholic? Or if you take something else for sleep can you drink?

anyone take Ambien for sleep?

I was just prescribed Ambien yesterday. Last night was the first time I took it and nothing happened! I still lay in bed wide awake, crying and unable to fall asleep often until 3-4 in the morning. (Thank goodness I am single or I would be driving my husband crazy) Once I fall asleep, things aren't too bad, I do wake up with soaking night sweats but usually fall right back to sleep. I am hoping that the Ambien will begin working within a few days. I know a few friends who have used Ambien with excellent results so I will try again tonight. Say a prayer for me that it will work (THANKS).

After my TAH, I could not sleep. Used Ambien for 2 months and my husband discovered me "sleep eating". I had no memory of it whatsoever.

Been using Lunesta now and no middle of the night kitchen trips.
