vaginal cuff healing?

Hello everyone. I had a TAH on July 24th. I go for my six week checkup Sept. 4th. I've had minimal problems recovering, which is great. But I've read so many comments from women here that they've had problems with their vaginal cuff healing. If that was the case with me, what symptoms would I have if it was not healing. I think I'm doing great and don't want to be surprised when I go see the Dr. and she tells me my vaginal cuff is not healed. Thanks in advance....

vaginal cuff healing?

I would have light to medium spotting whenever I tried to be active - like just walking around the store. When I went in for my 6 wk checkup the doc said there was a tiny spot in the cuff that had not healed. It bled a lot when she pressed on it. She did a silver nitrate treatment which took care of the problem.

vaginal cuff healing?

I've never had any spotting, not even the tiniest bit. I've walked a lot, I've been as active as I can be without over doing it, but never any spotting. I guess that's why I'm curious as to whether I'm healing properly. I feel great, guess I shouldn't complain. I'll find out on Thursday whether I'm actually healing as well as I feel.

vaginal cuff healing?

Ok..so the drs actually touch the cuff or look only? I'm kinda nervous thinking about them touching or poking at it. I don't want to worry about bleeding after appt!? Thankfully so far no bleeding/red, I've only had very light/minimal light tannish color.
I'm going this Wednesday for my 4 week(only post op appt) included with surgery so wondering if dr will do a internal??

Probably. Mine hurt a bit but then I never liked internals but it's how they check the stitches so it's important.
Good Luck for a good report.

But do they actually touch the cuff or just look at it and tell? Thanks

I am sure all docs are different. Mine didn't look, he just touched up there. Didn't hurt a bit. At 5 weeks, I was not completely healed but he said that was normal and I was fine. I too have had basically no spotting. At about 4 weeks, I had some very light pink staining but that lasted about a day. Also had a bit of that after exam but again it only lasted at most a day.

It sounds like you are doing fine. I hope your appt goes well!

vaginal cuff healing?

My doctor did an exam similar to what you would have for your yearly checkup. She used a speculum so that she could see the cuff and how it had healed. There was one stitch that was sort of hanging so she pulled it out. It did not hurt at all. I was kind of glad that she did use the speculum because I figured if she could get that in without hurting me then it wouldn't hurt when I got the all clear for other "activities".

Sounds like you ladies are doing well. Continue to take care of yourself and don't over do things so that you continue healing properly.

vaginal cuff healing?

I had a light discharge that would have a little bit of light blood in it after I overdid it a bit. When I went for my 5 week post op it was just like a pap smear. Feet in the lovely stirrups , scoot your tushie down , and of course the dear old speculum. She looked inside and said their was a small area on the cuff that wasn't healing properly and asked the nurse to hand her some silver nitrate on a Q-tip and just dabbed it on. Really not that painful at the time . Not nearly as bad as I had invisioned it to be. After I left it did continue to burn a little for the rest of the day but that was it . The fear was way worse than the procedure itself. Try not to worry ...you'll be fine.

I got a cuff infection, but once it was cleared up the ultrasound showed that it was 100% healed up (took about two weeks for it to heal fully).
