herniated disc - not adhesions?
Hi all,
had lap yesterday for what surgeon was sure was adhesions on the colon - have had 3 prior adhesion removals - have been suffering with severe pain in sigmoid colon area and severe constipation for many months - good news - absolutely no adhesions - none! - bad news - still don't know what is causing the pain. Surgeon is suggesting could be referred pain from herniated disc that is the problem. was wondering if anyone else had experienced anything like this, and what happens after this to confirm or rule out that as the problem? He has referred me back to my PCP. Nice to know the adhesions haven't reared their ugly head again, but not much fun to be home with surgery pain, and still have the same pain I went in with! Any help is appreciated.
Pam

sorry
I am sorry you went through this surgery and got no relief! That is about all I can say!!! Unfortunatly, there is SO many things that could be causing your problems that it is going to take the process of elimination to get the answers you need. I do hope you have a good primary care doctor. You are going to need one to steer you in the right direction. When I was loaded down with adhesions my doctor told me to see a "shrink" because I did not "handle" the hyst well. I am now in the process of getting an new primary care doctor. She just told me to see a reiki master for my back pain, and it turns out I have a bulging disc sitting on a nerve! I know it is hard, but you have got to keep looking for answers. Best wishes, and I hope you find an answer soon.

herniated disc - not adhesions?
 Pam,
Same thing happened to me. Doc did an exploratory lap, found not a one adhesion. This despite them being found during each of my surgeries. Yeah, so I had no answers either. I was quite devastated. While it was good to know I didn't have adhesions or a life threatening disease, I still had no answers.
I have heard of referred pain. That is; the area you feel the pain isn't necessarily where the pain is coming from.
in there. Keep looking for answers and relief.
