LAVH yesterday, home today

You ladies have been great up to the point, now I have a recovery question for you...
I had my surgery yesterday morning and finally busted out of the hospital noonish today. Wow are the gas pains bad! I have been taking my anti-gas meds as directed but I am not sure of one thing. How hard should I dare push to get the gas out? I dont want to bust open any of my stiches.
Other than the pain med's have made me itch, scratch and throw up repeatedly, I am not feeling as bad as I thought I would. I have the pillows proping me up on the couch and the SO taking wonderful care of me. I am honestly surprised I am up and around so fast.
Thank you for all your support, I couldnt have gone into this as informed as I have...
Someone, please hand me my crown!

Hugs to all

PJ

Hey there PJ

Be very careful about pushing. I don't know that anyone can tell you how hard you can push without doing harm, but better safe than sorry. There are a bunch of good articles on the Post-Op Page including one on Gas .

Please be careful. I was told to and lots of water to get the moving.

Blessings on you ...

If possible and if it doesn't cause discomfort, lay on your left side. Thats the natural intestinal flow! I found that out after my son was born 21 yrs ago! And after my TAH/BSO it really helped from doubling over in pain! Don't push either, be patient!
