want to quit again soon

i had quit smoking the day before my surgery and managed to go 1.5 years without smoking. i found it difficult with dh still smoking in front of me and my work buddies. my dr. had suggested i get new buddies, trade in for new nonsmoking friends.the problem is my work buddies are also my best friends and i cant trade them in,so i want to try again and am trying to get my brain ready again.trying to set a quiting date, like maybe last day of sept or last day of oct.oh and i started smoking again when i was trying out androgel which is testosterone formulated for men. i got very agressive and anxious.i wanted to smash things and could not stand anything, so i lit up again after going all that time.not my proudest moments, lol.

want to quit again soon

I once quit smoking for 5 years and then went back again. I got real nervous because my apartment burned down and of all things it was due to a cigarette that someone (certainly not me), had tossed by the storeage bins beneath my apartment. I was at work at the time, and when I arrived home that evening everything was destroyed and the firemen were just leaving the scene. That was a very long time ago, but stress can really be a factor that starts you up again after quitting.

I have since quit smoking again and the easiest thing for me was to practice SLOW deep breathing - and I mean really and truly DEEP BREATHING. Push that tummy way, way out upon inhaling and suck it way way in when exhaling. Then tell yourself that your lungs are just way too full of clean air and you don't have any more room for cigarette smoke. It's sort of like when you're on a diet and have eaten so many veggies that you don't have room for any more food.

I know they put different addictive chemicals in cigarettes today than they did years ago and it's much more difficult to stop smoking. But you CAN
do it again. Exercise like walking also helps. Good luck!

P.S. The cigarette police patrol will be watching and checking on you.

want to quit again soon

I'm ready to quit too! I quit the day before surgery but ended up finding a pack of cigs yesterday and smoked 2. I started taking walks around the subdivision when I felt the urge. I've only had one today (it's about 1:30 pm). I had felt the urge again, so I came down and got on the website to keep my fingers busy. I'm 1 week post op today and will be off work the whole month of September. I'm afraid I will get bored and go buy some more. Hubby doesn't smoke and the house is smoke free, so it shouldn't be difficult right? I'm trying to keep my hands busy so I don't crave one. DEEP breathing you say? I'm going to try that. Thanks.
