Pre-op Update

I went for my pre-op appointment this morning and am kind of down. I took the 3 month Lupron injection 5 weeks ago to stop my cycle and hopefully shrink the 22 week uterus that is filled with 3 very large fibroids and 8 smaller ones. The doctor said it has not shrunk enough to go vaginally. Must be abdominal and now he thinks he will need to do a vertical incision, instead of bikini cut. I was so hopeful the Lupron would work, especially after all the fun side effects to deal with. I am glad that in 16 days this will be over and I will be on the road to recovery. I am just so disspointed and feeling really down. Thank you all for the suggections of what to ask at the pre-op appointment. I feel I was a lot more informed. I hope the next 16 days speed by. Thanks for letting me get this off my chest. I feel like a good cry will help. Maybe later....

Sorry to hear that the expectation for surgery is different than what you hoped for. Do remember that things may still go differently in surgery. In my case, I was told I'd have a vertical incision for my TAH and a horizontal incision for the panniculectomy, but they ended up being able to do it all with just one horizontal incision. My uterus was rather large, as evidenced by the photo in my HS gallery (click on "my photos" to see it if you have a strong stomach).

The doctors will do what is best in your case. I wish you all the best.

Have a good cry. Get it all out and then don let yourself be sad anymore. put it behind you. think of how great you are going to feel when you get that all out of your bellY!

Sorry those shots didn't work as you had hoped....FEEL BETTER SOON, October 3 will be here before you know it. If crying doesnt make you feel better try chocolate!! I go in next Tuesday TAH, I ve been waiting two years so I can't wait!
