Confused about what to do...

I'm 32 years old and need some advice from women more experienced and wise than I. I recently had a myoectomy and hysteroscopy to determine why I have suffered debilitating pain for about 8 days every month since I was 12. And the answer I have been waiting 20 years to hear is....there is nothing wrong with you. I had one small benign cyst in my uterus. Very small. Nothing else. So my options now are......hysterectomy? I don't like to take medicine and besides pain medicine makes me itch and anti inflammatory meds make me nauseous. I have terrible cramps and usually migraine brought on by this stress most months. I need to get back to work and help pay the bills, but it is harder to work through this pain each and every year. I am asking for any advice on what I do from here. Thanks, Delean.

Confused about what to do...

Delean,

Sometimes it's not that there isn't anything wrong, rather that the medical team just hasn't found it. Did they do a laparoscopy too? (I'm wondering if endometriosis was ruled out?)

Has anyone suggested continuous BCP to avoid the hormone shifts each month that can trigger migraines? Or perhaps the Mirena system to help with your cyclic pain? One of my sisters has it and is doing great with it. Sounds like you owe yourself a second (or third) opinion to see what your options are and have help deciding. Keep your family doctor involved and maybe get the opinion of a neurologist for your headaches, if you haven't already. Going to multiple doctors isn't fun, but you're worth getting things figured out.

Our RESOURCES SECTION has some great links to get you started. I hope you find some answers and the relief you so deserve.

Gentle s
Beth
