Estrogen and autoimmune (lupus) flares

Just wondering if anyone noticed severe flaring of their autoimmune disease while taking estrogen? My docs are still trying to figure this out. They are not sure if im flaring because of the bio/estrogen, or not having enough. I know lupus and estrogen usually dont mix. I also have sjogrens syndrome and the dryness overall is unbearable, so its impossible for me to stop taking it even for 1 day..cant breathe or swallow (the dryness)??

thanks!

Estrogen and Autoimmune (Lupus) Flares

This is a concern of mine as well...I've had Lupus for 19 years and the last few years have been uneventful.

I'm 5 weeks post-ops today and just started on Vivelle Dot .025 for hot flashes and night sweats. I was hopiing to steer clear of any additional medication but one day at a time. I haven't noticed any change with my Lupus or my Thryoid.

Estrogen and autoimmune (lupus) flares

My problems didnt start until 8 months after my surgery. I was doing ok, then overnight, it was like I was hit by a bus, and still havent recovered.
I did read several articles where it says people with lupus metabolize estrogen differently. Ive tried several forms of low dose estrogen, and it just makes me sicker.
Good luck to you though...some do fine!!!

Estrogen and autoimmune (lupus) flares

Dearest Gursie, I was diagnosed with lupus, mixed connective tissue disorder and fibromyalgia a year after my complete hysterectomy. I find that when my hormones are in balance I have less flares. Too much bad flare and too little bad flare. Its such a frustrating thing to even get balanced, and yes I think we absorb estrogen differently also. Anyways I just wanted to let you know you are not alone and I wish the best for you.
Hugs
