Why can't I SLEEP???

Day four out, had a horrible time getting rest at the hospital, and now that I'm home in my own blessed, comfy bed, I can't sleep. Not naps, not at night, nada. I was so ready for attacks of stealth fatigue and taking it easy....am I going crazy? How can I get some zzzz's??

Why can't I SLEEP???

I'm so sorry you're experiencing this insomnia. Having dealt with it some, and having a DH who has dealt with it all his life...I know it can be frustrating and down right debilitating. You might want to check with your Dr. and let him know about the problem. Also, you could see about some sleeping pills...just for a few nights...to get you back on a good cycle. I think surgery can really throw your cycles off. I used my pain pills that made me sleepy as a help in the evenings for the first week or so....even though I really didn't need them for pain. I would have the fear that your exhaustion from not sleeping could hinder your recovery. I hope you can find an answer...you need to rest.

Sending Blessings,
Tank

Why can't I SLEEP???

I took advil pm and my dr also sent me home with some anti-nausea (sp?) pills that made me really sleepy so I would take one before I ate dinner and sometimes it would work...other times I just ended up laying on the couch watchin HGTV at 3:00am!!! Good Luck and have a speedy recovery!

Why can't I SLEEP???

Me Either!! I am 5 days out and I stopped taking the pain meds cause I sleep weird when I am on them. So I quit and now I can't sleep. I guess I will take the pain meds again just so I can sleep, I don't want to get where I have to have them to sleep. YUCK!!

Why can't I SLEEP???

The same thing happened to me about 5 days after surgery. I took a Benedryl that helped one night, but what REALLLY helped was I got rid of my temporary "couch bed" that I had a sheet on with lots of pillows and blankets and was where I spent most of my time when I first got home. I ripped the sheet off, cleared the coffee table of all my "post op" stuff...meds, books, water bottle, get well cards, and then made bedtime more of a ritual like I had before - change into fresh pjs (not the ones I was wearing all day), wash my face (even tho no make up on), put on good smelling lotion, grab a cup of hot tea and crawl in bed...worked like a charm and haven't had any problems since!

Why can't I SLEEP???

I am going to give my daughter her room back and try to get back in bed with hubby tonight. We had decided that it was best if I sleep in there so hubby doesn't keep me up with his snoring and walering! Anyway know that room has become like a dungeon to me so I think I will try to get my blankets and sheets washed and head back to bed.

Reply to sleep

I had a hard time sleeping for about a week or so. I didn't sleep well at the castle either. When I finally did start sleeping it was in 2 hour sleep sessions and that was after taking sominex sleep aid. I am a little over 2 weeks out now and am doing better. This too shall pass.

Good luck.
