Bleeding after day 7 of TVH

Hi all! This is my first post after many long visits on this website pre-op and post-op. It is an amazing site with so much useful information. Thank you to all. I had my TVH on Monday the 22nd and have been doing well and trying to stay low. I have not had any bleeding until yesterday, day 7. When in the shower I had bright red blood trailing down my leg. There was not enough to soak an entire pad in one hour or even close but I am a bit nervous since I've had no bleeding until now. The bleeding continued all day Sunday and I woke up this morning with a darker spotting but still blood. Anyone else having this so late in the process?

How is everyone feeling? Anyone still cramping and taking pain pills? I've read so many people are on Advil only but I'm still finding I'm pretty uncomfortable sleeping and wake up with cramps. Otherwise, I'm terribly bored and trying not to overdue.

Bleeding at a week post-op?

Mastiff, I am still taking my percosets but only a 1/2 a tablet instead of the two per dose. I have made it up to about 5.5 hours without taking it. I did try tylenol one night and that just not do it for me.

I also think the bleeding is very normal, my doctor told me if I had bleeding a couple to three weeks out not to be shocked. That it is normal and as long as it isn't worse than a period I should not worry over it.

I have dust mopped and did a load of dishes and laundry that I could reach without bending over), also slowly took the sheets off the bed and replaced those. Doesn't seem like much but think my tummy is aching for it, going to take it easy the rest of the day.

Bleeding at a week post-op?

Hey there click on my user name and look at the post I made called Bleeding and angry. There is an article I posted there with several reasons why we may bleed late into recovery. I just started bleeding late into my 3rd week and now at 4 weeks, I am still bleeding bright red blood. I called my DR and he said everythng was healed and even realeased me! So bleeding is normal as long as its not clotting or like a period.

Bleeding at a week post-op?

Spoke with the nurse today. Bleeding is normal for 3-4 weeks. It should go from red to brown. I never took any pain meds.

Bleeding at a week post-op?

Thank you all for your input. I feel much better about the bleeding now. I just thought it was very odd to begin so late into my recovery.

Your input is a life saver!

Bleeding at a week post-op?

Hi mastiff4me
I had almost no bleeding until my second week. My dr assured me mine was normal, probably occurring because there were sutures starting to dissolve, but everyone is different. While some bleeding on and off during recovery is generally considered normal, I would caution against assuming that all bleeding is normal. Only your dr can confirm that for your sitution.

Some women do fine, then have bleeding after they are released, generally that is beyond the six wk point. The article (((Kelly))) refers to gives some reasons for that and also the early bleeding that can take place with women who are still working their way through their recoveries. You're still very early in your recovery at one week post op. Most women are relatively early at 4 wks when you consider it generally takes 6 to 8 wks for initial healing to take place in most women. Doctors will tell you it can take 6 mos to a year to fully recover and be back to 'normal' for many women. It took me about 8 mos to reach that point.

As your incisions heal you'll probably go through various stages with discharge being light and dark before your body is fully healed. Listen to your body and if something worries you, call your dr and find out for sure if it's 'normal' for you.

The artilce referred to is a good one and can be found with this link http://www.wdxcyber.com/nbleed13.htm
Take care and try not to worry. You might also want to take a look at the Checkpoints for more information on what to expect each week as you continue with your recovery.

Bleeding at a week post-op?

I'm beginning my 3rd week of post op. I had been spotting normally for the past week or so. This morning I woke up to go to the bathroom and out came BRIGHT red blood, and significantly more than usual. I have been a good patient, no lifting, bending, straining, etc. No pain other than the occasional gas pain. Is this normal?

same thing happenned to me, read the article that was posted by ladyoflight or the link bosted by the hostess. I found this article and it helped me alot. I also went to the DR and he told me it was perfectly normal. It happenned to me on Wednesday, and yesterday was my first day of no bright red bleeding.I am still spotting though but hopefully not for long.

Bleeding at a week post-op?

(((love2crop))), I hope that you have called your doctor to ask if this is cause for alarm or if it's a normal part of your own recovery. That's something that we can't determine for you. My doctor's orders were to call if I experienced any bright red bleeding--that's pretty standard as far as post-op orders go.

Please call your doctor and let him/her know about the bleeding. Let us know when you can what your doctor says, okay?

Bleeding at a week post-op?

Hi everyone. I just came back from DR office. Everything is fine. I sneezed yesterday for the first time, and this apparently popped a stitch. My hemoglobin was a bit low, but DR said everything was okay. YEAH!!!!!
