Odd Surgery Prep - bowel prep, shower, douche??

So, I had my pre-ops yesterday and got my preparation instructions. I've read this board over the past month pretty thoroughly and I haven't read about these:

My bowel prep - instructions are to buy a bottle of miralax and mix it with a 64 oz bottle of gatorade... and drink in an hour... ?? No enema though.... anyone have any experience with this particular prep?

Also, a betadine shower the night before and a betadine douche. This was very surprising as I haven't read anyone having to do this.

I'm very concerned about the douche. I have extremely sensitive skin... has anyone had to do this? Does it burn?

When I was in my 20's and they came out with those femanine wipes, I bought some and used them... OH MY!! I had the most horrible reaction!! Sores galore... I thought I had herpes and went to the doctor and it was an allergic reaction to the wipes. Ever since, I have steered clear of any kind of anything "down there" except for vinager and water. So now I'm a bit concerned I'll have a repeat episode.

Any advice or experiences would be appreciated.

i didnt have to do the douche but my neighbor did before her tah/bso. she also had to do the drink and the enema. each dr has his own prep. if youre afraid of a bad reaction, you might want to call your dr's office and ask if you can skip the douche.

I drank my bowel prep. Never did the douching. One of my gf's did the shower thing.

I did a Miralax prep for a colonoscopy a year or so ago. It wasn't exactly pleasant, but in the grand scheme of things it wasn't so bad, either. The thing that surprised me was that it really did take 5 hours to start working! I was starting to get anxious when things began "moving" very quickly. It was over in a couple of hours, and not too bad.

Didn't do the shower, but I have heard a few who have done this. Unless you've had a reaction before, I don't think the betadyne will bother too much.

I did the betadyne douche, though. ACK..... it was very "brown" and very "cold". Not painful, but strange, mostly because I don't douche.

I was instructed to shower with antibacterial soap the morning of. Have also read of the douche in some instances. If it is cold I would soak the bottle in a warm pail of water ahead of time!

I had an enema and a betadine douche before my surgery. The douche was kind of cold but didn't hurt or cause me any problems. Since you've had reactions before, maybe you should discuss it with your dr just to be on the safe side.
