Hyst=Weight gain?

I lost a few pounds after my hysterectomy ( 6 years ago now ), Now, I weigh about the same as I did pre-op - I'm within my weight range. I had my ovaries removed and started taking hrt the day after my surgery. I'm still taking it but a much lower dosage.

Best wishes.

Hyst=Weight gain?

I'm sure everyone reacts differently. HRT can cause weight gain OR loss, or have no effect whatsoever. Activity levels and what you eat seem to play a bigger role--at least for me. I sit around and eat junk, I gain weight. I get up and move and eat healthy, I lose weight. As of right now, my weight is the same as before, and I am on Vivelle Dot 0.1. The one thing I have noticed, my breasts aren't as heavy. As I'm able to increase my activity level, I may lose more.

Hyst=Weight gain?

After my surgery 6 months ago, I was hoping to lose. I've been working out like crazy. I have not lost a thing. (Haven't gained though) However, my measurements are smaller than my PRE-surgery measurements, so I know it isn't swelly belly that went down. I've been keeping track of my measurements for 2 years, so they are now smaller than they were before. I try not to go by the scale.

Keeping track of your measurements is actually more rewarding than watching the scale!!

Hyst=Weight gain?

I had TAH 9/11 kept ovaries. I have lost about 5 lbs but my tummy is still a little swollen. I know a lot of my friends have had hyster but they have not gained any wieght. If you watch what you eat while you are recovering because you won't be burning as many calories you will be OK. drink lots of water and eat right.

Hyst=Weight gain?

I am about 7 months today actually post op and thought I would lose some weight after the surgery. I did go down 3 lbs and had started HRT the day of surgery then started having issues with more headaches and total lack of sleep so the HRT increased and I have hit an all time high in weight gain. I feel big and fluffy and trully not satifisyed with how I look..... I am going back to another dr cause my thyroid is acting funky, but I have to wait another month (test say it is over active - ha, ha). I attribute the weight gain to the increase in estrogen and progestrogen (sp) and find myself struggling daily not to over eat - never seems to be enough. I am a little afraid to play with the hormones (not one to go against dr orders), but they sure don't have a problem playing with me.
So just by reading this link it can go either way on weight gain. May the luck of good genes be on your side. take care

Hyst=Weight gain?

I lost about 10 lbs during the surgery and recovery period. However, I gained it back slowly and am now at the same weight that I was before surgery. I do take Prometrium and I still have my ovaries. I go to Curves 3 times a week and walk at lunchtime, now that I am not tired all the time. I also don't have the food cravings that I had before, like an entire bag of potato chips in one sitting (I was dreadfully anemic, my body was looking for something to fill that need). I feel so much healthier, I eat much healthier and I look pretty good, so I don't seem to mind that 10 lbs so much.

be well,

Hyst=Weight gain?

I just had a TVH 2 weeks ago, and lost 10 pounds. Can't wait till my iron levels go up so I have the energy to exercise.

Hyst=Weight gain?

I had an epiphany about 4 weeks after my surgery (of course, mine was not as extensive as yours), when my DH and I were running errands and had been in town about 4 hours, when I looked over and told my DH "I'm not tired!" It was really cool to be able to do some shopping and run errands for several hours and not feel done in. We went home and I didn't need a nap. It was a very good day. I realized at that moment that I had really made the right decision to have the hyster. I think I didn't know how very ill I was until I started feeling healthy again. A new day of health and energy is coming your way.

Happy healing,
