Help getting estrogen patch to stick?

I had a LAVH and everything went fine. I had the surgery on Thursday, Sept 25, 08 at 7:30a and was walking the halls of the hospital on Friday. The biggest issues that I had was the breathing in the machine and coughing; however, I was able to go home on Saturday and took a much needed shower. The only problem that I am having now is the estrogen patch that I have. I chose the patch because you only had to change it every 7 days. But when I shower it comes unglued. Any suggestions?

Help getting estrogen patch to stick?

Hi! to Hyster Sisters! We're glad to have you join us on the message boards.

I'm glad your surgery went well and that you're back home recovering.

Getting those patches to stay stuck on is a common concern so an article was written with some helpful tips. That article is linked here: How Can I Keep My Estrogen Patch On Until It's Time To Change It?.

Are you using a brand name patch (such as Climara or Vivelle Dot) or is it a generic patch? If it's generic, you may have to ask your doctor to prescribe a brand name patch as they do tend to stick better. If your patch doesn't stay on properly it isn't going to deliver the estrogen you need.

Good luck to you with this and best wishes for your recovery!
