Irrational Fear of Sex????
I am two weeks post-op and all I can think about is sex. Unfortunately, I want it and am terrified to EVER have it again. Is this completely irrational? I'm afraid to ask my doctor becuase then I will have to tell him that my fear is that my husband will break through the "new" top of my vagina. I haven't told my husband I feel this way because if I gave him that visual I'm sure we would never have sex again. I was really sad when I found out that they were taking my cervix, and I think I have become obsessive about the whole thing. Not to mention that I didn't bleed at all until a week ago and have been bleeding all week which makes me feel the I must not be healing well. I see my Dr. Monday, but would LOVE to not have to bring this up at his office. Any advice? Am I crazy???????

Irrational Fear of Sex????
Hi (((canned1976)))
I'm so sorry to hear you're worrying about this the way you are. Step back ,take a breath and try to take the pressure off a minute. First off, you are VERY early in your recovery. It isn't unusual to have your emotions going every which way. Some of this may really be insecurity coming out that is general anxiety. If you give yourself some more time before you try thinking about it too much, you may find a lot of this clears up on it's own.
You need to take into consideration also that there are women running around all over the place who have had this same surgery and don't have any problems, whatsoever. I'm one of them. You can rest assured that your doctor isn't going to take chances with your health and it is very rare for a woman to have a problem once she is released by her dr. This is one of the reasons why it's so important not to be foolish and do anything before the dr has given the ok.
I would like to encourage you to talk to your dr about your fear. You will be surprised I'm sure that s/he has heard it before. It's ok to say you know it might be irrational, but to ask for reassurances to help you deal with the fear isn't silly at all. I think you should take every opportunity to get information to combat the fear. Replace the irrational thoughts with solid evidence as to why you don't need to worry.
I hope you can learn to enjoy the fact that you have some good libido going for you. It really will be alright. Let us know what your dr has to say.
 's, Rita

Irrational Fear of Sex????
From the hour I woke from surgery I was craving some adult fun - and took what I could get till my doc said it was good (and then had to wait another month till my mate got home).
I had a total and it never even occured to me that could happen, since I was having medical stuff shoved in their from the second day of surgery, so if they could do that, then well his wasn't going to be an issue.

Irrational Fear of Sex????
Of course you are scared! We women like to be in control and have all the answers.
Not knowing how it is going to feel, if it will be the same as before, if it will hurt, will you bleed etc. are all valid questions.
All I can tell you is that I got the all clear on Monday and we tried it on Tuesday. I was TERRIFIED and found it hard to relax. Lubrication wasn't an issue, it felt uncomfortable but not painful and I had a little spotting afterwards. I didn't manage the big O but am willing to try again soon. DH has been away since Wednesday so there hasn't been the opportunity! He was very gentle & we took thing slowly. He says that I felt a little tighter but nothing else was different.
Hope this isn't too much information :-) And that someone finds it useful.
Katy

Irrational Fear of Sex????
I too am terrified of having sex. I am 8 weeks post-op and asked my Dr. if he would tell me DH that I have to wait 6 months after surgery but he told me he likes my husband too much to tell him that. So I just simply told my husband that I'm not emotionally ready yet to try it. Thank God he is understanding, beings that men are like dogs. You know I can't understand how my husband can sleep through a thunderstorm where the windows are rattling from the thunder, and yet if he were in that same deep sleep, and I ever so softly whispered to him anything related to sex, he'd wake up in a heartbeat and be raring to go! Man they really are wired differently than women are. But I guess I'm the same way when it comes to shopping the earlybird sales!!!
