Sore incision site

I had an LAVH about six weeks ago. The incisions were healing fine, I think, except for the one in my belly button. About a week ago, the skin to the left of the belly button started feeling sore and irritated and now there are two red lines emanating from either side of the button. They are getting longer and redder and have a burning sensation. Has any one else had this, and do you know what they are? Should I go back to the gynecologist or to the family doc.?

Please advise!

Hi Bwonk

I would start with your family Dr but you are right to think that you should be getting it checked. Better to be safe than sorry.

Take care

I would definitely recommend getting in touch with your doctor. Red lines can be a sign of infection. It may not be - but better to check now before the weekend.

Hope all is well.

Yep, definately get in touch with your doctor I had this happen from a mosquito bite abroad and was given anti-histermines and antibiotic. I was told it was infection. Hope all goes well for you from now on and that you have a great recovery.
