when can I drive again

Just wondered if any of my fellow sisters could tell me how long they had to wait before driving after a TAH/BSO? I'm scheduled on the 21st of October and would like advice from others who've been there and done that.

Are there others scheduled for the 21st? How are you feeling? I'm excited and getting a little nervous. Don't have to do any bowel prep beforehand, so I'm glad of that. Just planning on getting a mani/pedi and getting my stuff packed. Thanks for any advice! Have a nice Friday night!

2 weeks was my restriction. I thought it was assumed you were taking narcotics, and I drove a hsort distance a few days early. It was okay, but I wasn't too keen of the bumps. Enjoy your pampering! Good luck to you.

when can I drive again

Hi,
I drove on day 13 and ran some errands. I was fine, but really surprised how much it drained me. I ended up in bed most of the next day exhausted.

My insides didn't like all the jostling.

I think it depends on your doc. I had same surgery you're having (TAHBSO) and I was cleared to drive at one week, but I'd been off the meds for a couple of days at that point.

Some women get cleared early but have no desire to drive or do and then decide to wait longer. Honestly, I prefer to drive over sitting in passenger seat because then I can anticipate a lot of the "bumps" and stops in the road and driving has always been relaxing for me. It's pretty much a personal thing.

No matter what, make sure you're not on narcotics.

Also, do you know if you're getting bikini or vertical? I had the vert (from belly to pelvic bone, ouch!). Make sure you have something to help protect your sensitive belly from the seatbelt. Even now almost 3 weeks post-op I feel the burn if I wear the seatbelt too long. If you don't get the swelly belly band or an ab binder, then use a thin blanket or pillow to cushion your tummy.

Best of luck with your surgery!

Hugs,
Buzylady
