Tuesday is the day! Had all my pre-op
I am scheduled for a LSH on Tuesday morning (7:30 am). I went to the doctor pre-op visit on Thursday and the hospital pre-op visit this morning. I am starting to get nervous even though I want this done. The waiting for the day to get here is the worst part, I just want to get it over with and get on with the healing part!
Sunday I have to do my bowel prep and start antibiotics. Monday is an all liquid diet (although the doc said milkshakes are fine so I am going to have one for breakfast and lunch and then maybe just clear broth for dinner.)
I am little nervous about the bowel stuff. I have to work on Sat, Sun, and Mon - so I am not sure what time to take things so that I am not up all night but don't worry about cramping while working. Work ends Sunday at 3 pm and I start at 10:30 am on Monday, so I am hoping that is a good window for toilet sitting!
Anyone else going in this week?

Tuesday is the day! Had all my pre-op
Hello fellow Tuesday sisters!
I too will be going in on Tuesday the 21st for my TAH and MMK. I go from time moving too fast to time moving too slow if you know what I mean. I'm not getting any rest maybe 3 to 4 hours the most for the last 2 weeks. I got my downstairs family room arranged and cleaned my couch. Getting my ducks in a row so to speak. I don't work outside the house, but I know I'm the only one keeping this house from falling apart at times. I'm going to depend alot on my DH and DD and DS to help us all get through this without the walls caving in...LOL.
I went in for my pre-op appointment with my doctor on Thursday with my list of questions, and when I told him I had questions he got very defensive and I got so nervous that I stopped because he was freaking me out by his body language. I've never gotten this from him before, and it was most likely he was having a busy day but it really freaked me out even more!
I then went over to the hospital to get all the forms filled out for Tuesday and met with the pre-op nurse that will be iin on Tuesday, and god bless this woman she listened and talked to me about my fears and answered alot of my questions and then showed me where my room will be and since its such a small hospital (60 beds) all the rooms are private so I don't have to share with anyone. I met the nurses that are in charge of my hall and they were all warm and welcoming and after what happened in the DR office It made me feel so much better. I'm gonna so send them a muffin basket when I get out if they keep this up!

Pumpkinykitty,
I am sorry that you had a bad conversation with your doctor, that would have freaked me out too. I am sure everything will go fine but it is easier with a doctor that is easy to talk to and supportive. My doctor is amazing. She actually was my OB 12 years ago and then stopped doing OB and I just went back to her (she is about a 35 minute drive) for this. I was over at Duke Hospital before this and my doctor was not the best - very short in her answers and not really able to see the big picture of my issues. Once they determined I didn't have cancer, they released me and so I immediately went to see my old OB. She has the best bedside manner, listens, and is constantly asking if you have any questions, concerns, or need anything. She told me to expect her to call me every day during recovery until I wish she wasn't calling me anymore, LOL! That is one reason why I think I am so much calmer about this procedure. Since I have had "other" types of doctors, I know how lucky I am to have her doing my surgery!

Kathy,
My doctor said the surgery should take an hour and a half. I will be going in at 7:30, should be out by 9:00 and she expects that I will stay in recovery for 3 hours and leave to go home by about noon. Good luck to you, I will let you know how it goes if I can get to the computer before you go in!

Good luck Orthorn,
I know what you mean. I can't stop thinking about it either. I just want Tuesday to come so that I can get on with it! This weekend shouldn't be too bad as my DH and 4 kids are around to keep my mind off things some but Monday is going to be a hard day to get through.
Good luck to you!!!!

Irene,
What bowel prep are you doing? Magnesium citrate? That is what I have to do, wish I knew what to expect with that!

Phophosoda Prep don't know if that is the same but have to do clear liquids all day and 2 doses of this 3hours apart . will stay close to potty room for sure. Not the greatest thing to do i'm sure but it is the bad things you have to so to get to the good I think. hoping all goes well for you.
