Question about Menersa

Hi Tammy and

We're happy you found us! I use a safe and well-tested HRT that has been around for over a half-century and it works great for me. But there are many new therapies coming onto the market all of the time, and I trust that those who use Menersa will be along soon to share their reactions and comments with you.

Do keep in mind that if one hormone doesn't perform well for you, there are many options available so be sure to keep your medical provider "in the loop" about what surgical menopause symtoms you are experiencing.

Question about Menersa

Hi Tammy Are you having symptoms of surgical menopause now? What does your DR recommend that you use?

Menersa is an over-the-counter pill containing soy, black cohosh and "proprietary" ingredients that the manufacturer touts as "rare". It is marketed as a product that is supposed to allow women to experience the "natural change" of menopause. Nowhere do they mention anything about surgical menopause, which is quite a bit different; and they are elusive about their exact ingredients list. Personally, I would not bother with a product that doesn't tell me EXACTLY what is in it and how much.

If you're having symptoms, I would recommend seeing your DR and asking about HRT and non-HRT symptom relief options. You might want to also have a mammogram and a baseline DEXA scan, so you can see how those things change over the course of the first few years post op, to gauge the effectiveness of whatever medications you decide to take.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

s,
-Linda

I've been taking menersa for a month

So far, I've had good results. I had symptoms of dry skin, sore breasts, weight gain, low energy and my psoriasis was just acting up with the slightest disruption. Since taking menersa my husband has noticed my glossy top of my hands and no psoriasis. I'm not entirely pooped out at the end of the day. Within a day or so my breasts were no longer sore. I've been an athelete my whole life, and never had a problem keeping my weight in check. Of course menopause made it impossible for me to lose anything. In fact despite my efforts I even continued to gain. I reluctantly got on the scale for the first time today and I've lost 2 pounds, when before, I couldn't get it to go down at all. So something is going on. Its only been a month and I will continue to update here.

Re: Question about Menersa

Okay, another month has gone by, and I've been okay. I haven't lost anymore weight, and I haven't gained any either. My breasts have increased slightly in size, which makes me concerned that I am getting too much estrogen. In the last week I've also had a few headaches and bloating. The previous week I had increased my dosage of the menersa, to see if this would encourage more weight loss, it did not. I tried some sarsaparilla tea, to increase progesterone and that seemed to help, as this morning I had no bloating and no headache. Overall, I'm doing well, but I would feel better if I could just get rid of the 5 pounds I gained in the past year, before I started taking menersa, as it puts me borderline BMI/overweight.
