bladder repair/leaking fluid????
Hi I am new...I am 6 wks post TAH. Had surgery because of endo and found scare tissue everywhere...especially wrapped around my Bladder. A hole was repaired by urologist during surgery. Had 4 week check up everything was going good until 10/24 started leaking fluid ...can't even get up without soaking a pad(heavy). Called OB and Urologist having me take a test to turn my urine orange...anyone taking this test????
This is all very scary...Also Dr said make sure not to become constipated because it will worsen the problem...so drink prune juice lots fruits/veggies and drink water(lots)
Please help!!! Very upset!!
I am a tigger....but scared!

bladder repair/leaking fluid????
I started leaking lots of fluid around 3 weeks...soaking maxipads. The doctors ordered a cystoscopy, and cystogram. They never had me take anything that would make my urine turn orange, but it makes a lot of sense. Maybe by having your urine turn orange they will be able to detrmine if the fluid you are leaking is actually urine ( if your maxi pad is stained orange) or peridontal fliud. After my cystoscopy, if was found that they had actually severed my Ureter during the hyst and my kidney was draining in the abdomen for the first 3 weeks then eventually the uretor "fused" to my vagina and it was then draining out of my vagina. Unfortuantly it resulted me in having to go in for an emergency abdominal surgery to reimplant the uretor in my bladder.
This was called a fistula, mine was a uretor fistula, but you can also get a bladder fistula where the bladder "fuses" with the vagina and the bladder drains into the vagina. Apparently this can happen with the bowels as well...yuck!! I thought that if it was actually urine draining that my pad would be yellow and smell like urine, but 99.9% of the time it was clear and odourless??
I understand how scared you are, it is a very stressful time and I have to say that to me, I found it very degrading as well. I hope to god that the test does not show to be urine. My thoughts are with you and if you have any questions or just need to talk, drop me a line. I am now approx 2 months post op from the 2nd surgery and now dealing with infections in that kidney....it has been an uphill battle all the way.
Thoughts are with you and pray that everything is ok.
Hugs !!

I am so sorry you are going through this-I am 12 weeks fistula and catheter free- It can be tough physically and mentally- waiting and wondering-I think if it had not been for this site and the nice people who talked me through it I would have had a much harder time.
When I came on I was so scared and I could not find any information on the leaking- I didn't know anything about fistulas and then I talked to others here and then it wasn't quite so scary. Mine was from the bladder to the vagina- and was repaired two months after the hysterectomy-
I went through about 10 maximum strength poise pads a day- for me it was less upsetting then depends- and I never leaked-
I have heard that some fistulas heal on their own- I sure hope that is the case for you- Also I never got a bladder infection before or after- my doctor started me on antibiotics right away though and I stayed on them- he also had me on stress B vitamins which I think were helpful.
I wish you luck at the doctor appointment- you will be in my thoughts- take care of yourself!!

so scared
Well I went in to see urologist and I have a fistula/bladder. He said its not where they did the repair during surgery. So He put a catheter back in for two weeks to see if it heals on it own. I still have leakage just not as much. If it doesn't heal then I will have to choose from two procedures first one being through the abdomen or next trough the Vagina...a somewhat new procedure. They go in and glue the area. 80% chance of success??? The abdominal surgery is a 98% success. I am so scared and don't know if I can do another surgery. Please pray that this heals on it own. Also do I take a chance on this new procedure???
Not only I met a guy a few weeks before the surgery and told him about it. He has been so supportive sending me flowers and just caring so much. I'm just afraid that having another surgery will just scare him away...8(
Thanks for your support.

Thats the pits!! I had abdominal surgery to repair mine- I had read that there was a brand new technique using glue- I had told my dh earlier "if they can glue you back together for cuts and surgeries why can't they just glue this too!!! I should've held out awhile longer- really though-I am glad to have it all over with - Have you gotten much information on the glue?? I would be interested and I'm sure others might be too-
Take care of yourself and hang in there -

I haven't found out anything on it...The Doctor is based out of Arizona. Went into Mayoclinic online to research but haven't found much. Don't see the Urologist until the 13th. still wearing the Cath and leaking....so depressing 8(
I am thinking that if the glue is that new....may just have surgery get it over. Don't know if I can take another let down.
thanks for sharing and caring.

bladder repair/leaking fluid????
Hang in there -I think the cath. is the worst part- (and the waiting) I know what you mean about let downs-
I am a little thankful for my fistula today - actually it may save my life- One of my ultasounds showed something on my left kidney- my urologist had a renal ultrasound done to show more and today a CT scan- I have a 4cm tumor- I have surgery (again) on dec 1, - three surgeries in 6 months- Without the fistula it could have been quite awhile till we found out- anyway he doesn't think its spread and the prognosis is good-
