2 surgeries, which one do checkpoints from

I had LAVH on Sept 10 with a few complications. 23 days later heamorraged and had to have the vaginal cuff resewn. I saw gyno last week and he said there are still some stitches to disolve. He said nothing intimate for dh and I but I didn't ask about housework etc. Can I do laundry, vacuuming etc. I am going to go back to work p/t next week. Any opinions would b appreciated.

Hi Marg
I'm sorry to hear you had the complications and added surgery. My calculations would put you four weeks out from your second surgery. Is that right?

You may need to call your dr back and ask some more specific questions about what you can do. I would encourage you to continue to be pretty careful. An average hysterectomy can take 6 to 8 wks to heal and when there are complications, that usually lengthens that time. It sounds like you started fresh when you had to have your cuff resewn.

How are you feeling? It's also important to listen carefully to the signals your body is sending. Do you still tire easily and do you have pain when you are up doing things for any length of time? If your body is telling you it's not ready you need to listen and not push yourself to do more than you should.

I understand how it probably seems confusing which Checkpoints you should be following because you started over. I believe your safest course would be to look at four weeks and use that as your reference point. With added complications and new sutures, it has very probably set you back. The only person who can really tell you different is your dr. If the opening in the cuff was tiny and you're feeling good, he might ok more.

I hope you're beginning to feel better. Let us know how you're progressing.

Yes it will be 4 weeks tomorrow. The tear was pretty well the whole thing. I bled out pretty quickly. From start to critical was 3 hrs. Started off slowly, lots of clotting. Just got to hospital before passing out. Airlifted to a major hospital for the surgery. I do still tire easily. I like to rest in the afternoon. I am seeing a doc Monday about my right arm as it is still sore and weak.
