Returning to Work & your post op journey

I know I'm asking this question prematurely, but when did you return to work after your surgery? I just had A&P repair (cystocele, rectocele and enterocele) on Monday, 10/27 and am curious about others post op journey. I am trying to wean off the Percocet today. I've had it once this morning & will take it again for bedtime, but in between, I've taken Motrin for the pain. I'm usually an active person and I'm pretty surprised at how "knocked out" I am. I've done nothing but lay/sit around since I've been home. I have walked about 1/2 block 3-4 times since yesterday. I'd love to hear your recovery story! Thanks!

anneag--

I'm sorry you are still having any pain at all. It's not easy to recover from surgery like yours. My doctors told me I had 6 weeks to recover from a similar surgery back in Feb. of last year. Mine did also include some mesh removal and more intricate repairs BUT still....

I was told that I could not lift anything heavier than a TV remote for the first 10 days. Nor could I drive. That was WAY hard! I did NOT like those restrictions at all. After 2 weeks, I was told I could lift up to 8 pounds and then 2 pounds were added each week until I reached somewhere from 20-25 lbs. for life.

You need to ask your doctor and ask him/her if these are the types of restriction recommended for you, too.

Sending you +++ thoughts and good vibes.......
