2 1/2 weeks post op still hurting

I had LAVH on 10/22 due to adenomyosis and fibroids. I was just wondering if anyone else felt almost like they had just had surgery in this time span. I went with my mom to lunch and the grocery store yesterday and regretted it by the time I got home. I had pretty much gotten off the pain pills, then had to take two last night and two again this am when I got up. I have been on the couch since I got home yesterday laying down. I can't sit up longer than an hour at a time. I feel like I should be feeling better than this considering my MD said I should be able to go back to work after two weeks with no lifting.

Well I went back part time after ten days and that was too much!! I was extremely tired for at least 4 weeks. My TVH was 8/15 and I didn't feel anywhere close to normal until 6 weeks or so. I only took the pain pills on a regular basis for a few weeks, then as needed. I still needed them after a long day or doing too much for up to 6 weeks. I couldn't even lift anything over 5 pounds for six weeks!! Hang in there, you do start to feel better, its just so slow for some of us. I thought I would be back to work full time the following week!! haha

I had mine oct 21 and have not been out of the house yet! I also had a bladder repair and anterior posterior repairs of the pelvic floor though as well. I may be able to venture out for a coffee at starbucks with family one day, but am taking it slowly as I have only one chance of doing this right.

I had a TAH on Oct.21 and was doing great until I went walking in my neighborhood for about 20 minutes three days in a row. That was 4 days ago and now the pain is as bad as when I first came home from the hospital and I'm back on the pain pills. I've learned my lesson and am now doing as little as possible.

My surgery was 10/6 and I was great the first 10 days. Well, great is a gross overstatement. I thought like I felt I should. Then BAM!! I felt awful for a week. Sitting hurt, standing hurt, laying down hurt. No position brought relief. That pain is long gone but walking still gets things going if I am not careful. I still take pain pills in the evening as needed.

Cheers!

I am 3 weeks post op and I still take my pain medication every 5 hours round the clock. I few times I tried to go for a longer strech without a pill and I regret it afterwards. Also I notice that if I am up more, even doing nothing, just hanging out with friends or family the next day I feel more pain. So rest, rest rest and everyone heals at their own pace,

I'm finding out that anytime I want to do something besides sitting I'm having to take something. I didn't want to call the Dr for a refill of Ibuprofen, but I'm going to have to do that. I now have 2 sick kids home with me. So there goes my rest for today. Luckily they are 9 and 11 so they can fend for themselves, but they still want to be babied.

Howdy. I'm only a week out from my p and feel good for the most part. I am taking pain pills about every other day, if that. So far so good. But like yesterday, I rode in the car for 1 1/2 hours coming home after spending week with sis & mom. Then probably sat in recliner/couch last night and my lower back is killing me this morning. I'm just assuming its from too much sitting. So far my most difficult day was Thursday, 4 days after surgery, dealing with terrible awful constipation but that too has passed. I just hope things keep going well. Have a feeling five weeks will pass by pretty darned fast..

you all hang in there!!!

32_andconfused..........why are you calling the doc for a rerfill on the ibuprofen? 4 regular 200 mg ibuprofen are the same as prescription strength. Just wondering......

Anyway, I am 10 days post op. I feel really good. I did go out with my daughter on Sat (8 days post op) and we drove about 2 1/2 hours total time, (in different segments, not all at once) other than that we were having lunch or shopping in some little boutiques. We were of course gone much longer than I had originally planned. We were gone about 6 1/2 hours total. Yep, I was tired. But I really wasn't in what I would call bad pain. Just a little crampy type pain (nothing there to cramp though. LOL) Anyway, the next day (Sunday) I was certainly tired, so I just sat most of the day and took a nap later.
Today I feel good, so I think it will just take time. I'm going to work tomorrow (11 days post op) for 4 hours to see how it goes.
I had a TVH

Hope you get to feeling better soon! It all takes time.........

I am 5 weeks out tomorrow and can walk 3+ miles/day. HOWEVER, this is a very new development. Just 7 days ago I was extrememly frustrated and felt I was not advancing in the healing process at all. So...try not to get frustrated. I have found there are many peaks and valleys (OK - more valleys for the 1st 3 weeks for me)...but it does get better as long as you can listen to your body and rest when you hurt or are tired.

I feel for you having sick kids. My oldest got strep when I was 7 days post op....then they had a fall break....then my youngest was sick last week and home from school. Taking care of the kids - even when they are fairly self sufficient - is exhausting. Hopefully they will get better soon and you can truly take a break!

PS. as mentioned before - no need to refill your script - just take 4 Advil.
