Does ovary removal=weight loss?

Just curious to know if after an ovary or ovaries removed due to multiple cysts, has it made it easier to lose weight?

I had a sub total hyst last year with my left ovary removed. My right ovary has multiple cysts on it.

I've had a hard time getting back down to my weight pre-hyst and wonder if it doesn't have something to do with my hormones...

I work out consistently and eat well...the weight just doesnt want to budge...

Here's hoping the ovary takes the weight with it when I have it taken out later this month...

Not necessarily, it might actually be the opposite. There are many factors that can affect one's weight. Hormones, thyroid, age and dna. There are some articles about weight and hormones in the articles at www.hormonejungle.com

Its probably the hormones being off- and also possibly the thyroid which can get wacky after the ovary is removed- ask you doctor to do some hormones and TSH testing for you

Thanks for the info...thyroid is fine, my thought process was weight gain is a symptom of cysts, probably due to estrogen dominance.

I do take 100mg of progesterone to counter balance, but things have not stabilized.

So presumably, weight loss would come easier after removal of ovarian cyst and stabilization of hormones.

I was hoping some women could give some anecdotal info along those lines...

I did lose a lil weight after my ovarys were removed. I thank only cause I could not handle the smell of food r just not being able to eat. I am 4 weeks post op and what height i lost...I have found again and then some! Once I am able to get back to work and myself I hope I can lose it again!
