New here: Waiting to see if I need hysto.. in pain
Hello everyone,
I am new here... have been looking around a bit. I seems that I am not alone in my lengthly medical history..
In 2000, at age 32, a pap showed cervical adenocarcinoma.. a scary diagnosis! I never had an abnormal pap prior to that. I had a large cone biopsy which ended up being only CIS (carcinoma in situ - stage 0). One year later, had a CIN3 and had to have another cone. 10days after that surgery, I hemmorhaged and had to be packed/restitched. I wanted to preserve my fertility since I was not married yet. All was well until I got pregnant in 2003. I had to have a rare type of cerclage since I didn't have enough cervix for normal cerclage. I had a transvaginal, abdominal level cerclage placed, six months of strict bedrest and delivered my beautiful daughter by c-section. I was told the cerclage would stay with me forever.
Last Dec, I underwent Novasure endometrial ablation for heavy periods (could not take pill due to migraines). I wanted a hysterectomy, but gyno was uncomfortable doing one on me since it would probably be an abdominal approach due to scar tissue. After the ablation, I had many problems... bleeding, pressure, pain. I was told it was just the recovery. Then, one month ago, at my yearly, my gyno did a pap and it was PAINFUL! I bled and bled. She said I had BV, and also my cerclage was poking out a bit. It got better in a few days, but could not get rid of infection. Then a week ago, started have extreme pelvic pain/pressure/back pain. She said I had bladder infection and gave me Cipro and Flagyl pills for the BV again. Pain has not gone, and I am unable to stand or sit for more than an hour or so. I am on Vicodin and have missed work. I am returning to the specialist who placed my cerlcage because my gyno says this could be the cerclage eroding into my surrounding tissues. She is not comfortable dealing with it.
I see the specialist on Thursday and am very scared. The amount of pain I am in makes me worried about an abscess or bladder damage. I am just freaking out and looking up all kinds of things on the internet. I somewhat convinced that I will end up having a hysterectomy, and just want it done as soon as possible. I am so uncomfortable and have to lie down all the time. I am worried about my job... I work with all men in the science field. I have to call my boss tomorrow and explain all this female stuff to him. UUGGHHH. I just cry and cry and am so depressed. I am so sick of my cervix! My past cervical surgeries were extremely painful and this is bringing back so many bad memories.
Thanks for letting me vent... My biggest worry now is that the specialist won't want to do the hyster on me, will want to send me back to my gyno who I do NOT want operating on me since she is uncomfortable with it. My husband says if the specialist will do nothing, he is taking me to the emergency room and insisting they admit me. I am a very active person who puts up with a lot of pain, so having to be bedbound for this is so scary and frustrating!

Hey CC,
Only read your story today as I've only just joined.
I hope your visit to the specialist went well today and that your pain is getting better.
Hang in there.

Hang in there girl, my prayers are with you. I work in the science field also and work with 11 men, so I understand what you mean when you have to tell your boss what is going on. Atleast most of the men I work with have wives, and are very understanding. They all pulled together to do my work so that I didn't have a huge pile on my desk when I got back. Keep your chin up, and I hope it all goes well for you. It is very frustrating at times, but that just makes us stronger. Atleast that's what I keep telling myself.

Back from surgery!!
Hi Ladies,
Well, I saw the specialist yesterday afternoon in San Francisco, and he did surgery this morning. He was able to remove the cerclage and the damaged tissue through a colpotomy, which is incision through the vaginal wall into the pelvic area !!
He had to cauterize a lot of granulomous tissue and there was a lot of bleeding. He said I was a mess in there, but did not need a hysterectomy! He wondered why my gyn did not recognize this problem earlier. He said I suffered far too long for no reason. He recommended I change gynos, and recommended one in my area. I am so glad he gave me a recommendation... I trust him so much. He is the one who placed this rare, specialized cerclage when I was pregnant and losing my daughter. He saved her life!
Thanks for the support and concern!

Thanks, ladies, for all the encouragement. I am recovering and am not in much pain, but have the most horrible rectal pressure when I am up too long. He did tell me to take it easy, but I am sick of lying down. I am not constipated, have taken loads of Miralax and have gone just great. I just have this pressure feeling in my rectal and vag area. I had this two days before the surgery, and the dr. just nodded and said yes, you are very inflamed in there. Just wish it would go away. I also feel pretty tired and weak. I just want to get back to normal!
