Effects of internal stitches with cervix removal?

I read in a thread that someone having their cervix removed would have more internal stitching to deal with. That makes sense...but how will the recovery be different compared to someone who opted to not have it out? Or how will the stiches affect recovery?

I never felt my stitches. i asked my Dr. at my 6 week appointment how many internal cuff stitches I had(thinking hundreds) and she said four. :-)

Some say they see them fall out, I never did.

I had my cervix removed and never felt the stitches and didn't see but one come out. I still had a couple at the appointment but everything else was good so was released to return to life. Not had any problems with them.

As far as having more, I think it depends on the surgeon, exactly how much was taken, etc. etc.

Good to know, I am having a TVH with cervix removal, I would have assumed it would be atleast 20 stitches, I imagined a frankenstein like look in there! lol

My last lap was in august and I didnt even get stitches for the 2 incisions, just medical tape!

the recovery is faster if you dont have your cervix removed because you dont have the vaginal cuff to heal. the top of the cervix is cauterized, not stitched. you have to be more careful if you have the stitches that you dont do anything too soon to cause harm.

I had 3 stitches! Didn't even know they were there!
