Cleared for activities but not up to it?

I'm 3 1/2 weeks post-op for an LSH. I was cleared for all activity a week ago - the doctor says i can get back to everything I was doing with no restrictions - but I just don't feel up to it yet. I mean, I'm back to work (which involves mostly sitting), walking the dogs, etc., and all the ordinary stuff except working out. I think if I go back to Bikram yoga right now I'd be on the floor resting in about ten minutes (those of you who know Bikram yoga know what I'm talking about).

Am I being a baby? I have a tendency to be a baby about these things.

You need to listen to your body and rest as needed. Take the time to recover now and don't do anything your not up to. You had major surgery and are still healing on the inside which takes time. If you over-do it, it will just take more time for healing. Be the Princess! It is well worth it..

Yes, listen to your body. I think the doc probably meant to use your own judgement. Your body will be the decider. I am 3 wks post TVH and still not ready to go to the gym and do the treadmill or the eliptical. Not after my grocery store incident last week (another post).
Just take it slow, and good luck.

Cleared for activities but not up to it?

I have not gone in for post-op yet and I am almost 3 weeks out, and I have been doing some walking and I have restricted myself from lifting until my doctor appointment. I personally feel that I have done too much and I had quite a scare yesterday with heavy bleeding that took me to the hospital. All I can say is to listen to your body, that is what I intend to do! The most important thing is to take care of yourself!!

Cleared for activities but not up to it?

Hi Daphne

We don't have any baby's on this site - we are all amazing women who have battles scar's to prove it (just some of us have them internally).

The Dr only tells us that we are physically OK (as in healed) for all activities. He cannot know if we are mentally up to it.

When I got my clearance at 7 weeks I took things really slowly and, as I added in each new activity, I stopped if it hurt at all & tried it again a few days later. This has worked really well for me.

the only word of caution I would throw in is that it is still important to try and increase our general level of activity to try & build our stamina back up. These hysterectomy's really knock the stuffing out of you :-(

Keep listening to your body and do what you can.

Hugs

Katy

Cleared for activities but not up to it?

I had my LSH on the 24th and my doctor released me to do everything last Friday (two weeks past my surgery). I jumped into life and work and now I feel TERRIBLE. I look pregnant (I didn't think that could happen without a uterus, I am lightheaded all the time, and I don't want to eat (I have lost five pounds in the last two weeks and I am NEVER able to lose weight).

I think everyone is different. Listen to your body. Some people who have had LSH can go back to everything two weeks out - others can't. I also read if you had scar tissue, adenomyosis, endometriaosis, fibroids, or other big things going on that it can take you longer to heal.

Hope you feel better!

Like the others have said listen to your body. I think it was 5 wks before I felt up to doing everything again. I'm now 7 wks post op and I still get a little achy after exercise.

Take care of your self,

Cleared for activities but not up to it?

I am so glad that you posted this thread. I too had LSH and was cleared at only 2 weeks for all activity. The doctor said there are "no restrictions". I thought I was hearing things, because I know how I have been feeling. I just had my second post op at 5 weeks and I explained that I havent gone back to work yet and that I work in retail and have to do heavy lifting , all he said was you have no restrictions. I try to do more and more but I still get a tugging sensation, which he explained is probably adhesions forming, and the last 2 days I felt lightheaded like I was going to faint. On top of it all, now I have developed annoying hemorroids that have been bleeding. I dont know what to think or do, but I totally sympathize. We have to let our bodies heal and LSH is still MAJOR surgery. Good Luck and keep in touch.

Cleared for activities but not up to it?

I'd go get a second opinion.

I had LAVH on 10/22 and can't imagine going back to regular activities yet. Went for my 2nd follow up today and he just now said I should start taking short walks. (prior to today was just suppose to putter around the house, rest and relax). I asked him about going back to work and he said absolutly not and to not even think about it until after 6 weeks. He said it's so important that I take it easy and rest right now. He said I should start walking though but to not over do it and to take it easy.

Cleared for activities but not up to it?

I had a LSH on Sept 11 and was released on Sept 23 for all activities. I took 4 more days and headed back to work. I got really tired and had trouble with heavier activies but listened to my body when I came home from work and napped or just did nothing. Weekends all I did was sleep until about 6 weeks post op. Listen to your body and rest when possible and needed.
