LAVH and mini tummy tuck - is this possible???

Hi all,

This is my first post though I've read hundreds (if not thousands) of posts here for the last six months.

I have probable adenomyosis, possible endometriosis. Dr. has suggested a lavh but I'm thinking of doing a mini tt (skin only) at the same time and would rather not have TAH.

Has anyone had an LAVH and mini tt done? And results?

Thinking of scheduling my hysterectomy soon, I have cramping most of the month. Doesn't leave me incapacitated, just cranky with fairly constant low grade pain, like I have period cramps all month long. I used to have spotting half the month but haven't this month after going off a trial of bcp to see if that helped. It did, just I couldn't deal with the side effects.

If anyone out there has had a mini tummy tuck I would love to hear about it.

for the mini tt, you will be cut just about hip to hip..is there any reason why you dont want the dr to do the hysterectomy from the same incision? i'm not sure you can do the mini tt with the laparoscopic part of the lavh done the same day. you'd need to ask you plastic surgeon that.

I thought since the TAH is a bigger recovery and the mini would be skin only, no muscle repair, that I could perhaps still have the LAVH.

i had a mini tt/scar revision and had muscle repair. i didnt realize you dont need muscle repair. you are just looking to have extra skin removed? have you consulted with a plastic surgeon? i'm still not sure if they will do that at the same time because of the gas they put in you for the laparoscopic part of the hystectomy. good luck

I did see a plastic surgeon who will do the mini (skin only) with the hysterectomy. I mentioned the lavh to her but we didn't get too into those details at the initial consult. Cost of mini: $4,800.

Are you pleased with your mini tt results?

I don't see how they can do a mini tummy tuck when you will only have 3-5 tiny holes in your abdomen. They will have to cut the skin to remove it, that will result in a hipbone to hipbone cut (as far as I know).

yes i am very happy with mine. i didnt have it done at the same time as my hysterectomy though. maybe call the plastic surgeons office and ask the nurse to ask her if its possible. peaceful storm is right though..you will be cut hip to hip to remove even just the skin.

Okay, thanks for the info. I guess the question I need to answer myself then is: Is a mini tummy tuck worth the extra effort/recuperation from a TAH versus a LAVH. Not sure how I'll figure it out...

I am having my ovaries removed in Jan. (had uterus out three years ago). Since I am being opened and my scar is from my navel to pubic area I am having a min TT. My doctor is tightening the muscles though. The surgery is about 1900.00 extra plus added anesthesia costs. I will not require any lipo assistance because he does not feel like i have much fat to deal with, mostly skin and the old scar that has been cut open five times already.

You should see about getting the muscles tightened if he is removing the skin, my doctor said if I just did the skin it would basically fall under a scar revision.

He did say the mini is a quicker recovery (of course the hysterectomy will factor in) and that the results would be excellent. It is mainly for people who are ideal weight already with minimal fat above the belly button. I hope it comes out the way I want, anything will look better than my current scar...it looks like a butt crack down my middle!

mini during lap.? not seeing how it's possible. I did have a mini (before hyst.) they do tighten muscles and my scar is very low and only a few inches long. old c-section scar. love it recovery was very easy
