CRAMPING AND LIGHT SPOTTING after 5 yrs. of Partial-Hyst.

I had my abdominal partial-hysterectomy on May 27, 2003 and I have been pretty happy since then. I only had some bleeding about a year after, but my OBGYN told me at the time that it probably was part of the many internal stitches I had, that finally came out and since then I have been fine.
However last month I had some light bleeding after a couple of days of some minor brown spotting and after all that was finish I had a couple of days of cramping (similar to what I used to have before my surgery). I visited my OBGYN and she did an exam and also a pap, which everything came out normal. She told me that it is always possible to have this symtoms when you still have your cervix and ovaries but that it was strange that it is happening after 5 years. Now the problem is that yesterday (exactly a month after) I started the same symtoms again and was wondering if anyone has had the same problem after being ok for so long???

Mally

I'm sorry you're suddenly experiencing this!

It is very strange that it should happen after so many years, but it certainly does sound like cyclical bleeding. I wonder if your ovary function has possibly changed? It may be worth bearing this in mind over the coming months if any other hormonal symptoms develop. I can't really think of anything else, especially since you've already wisely visited your doctor and everything is fine.

You may wish to try a Google Search of HysterSisters (towards the top right of every page) to see if there are any similar experiences.

Sending all good wishes and positive thoughts your way!

Thanks so much for your info! I called my OBGYN yesterday and she wants me to do an Ultrasound. She said "I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything", so I'm going tomorrow for the Ultrasound and I'm hoping it will be my ovaries just acting different. I have also noted that I do get a slight migraine headache at the same time and that used to happend before my surgery every month, when I would get my period.
