3 weeks out...still so tired
Had my surgery on Oct. 27th. First week was the hardest. Today I am feeling good but find I am so tired after the simplest task. I usually feel good in the morning, have someone take me on any errands, but after riding in the car for an hour, ready to come home and take it easy. Don't be fooled by how good you are feeling...you still need to take it easy. I find that if I sit to long I begin to hurt. So I alternate between sitting and laying down. Walking helps the most, but only around the house, tried the store yesterday and could not get through the whole place. To much, to soon.
I am getting all my Christmas shopping done via computer so that makes me feel good.
Bowels still out of wack and thank God for Milk of Mag...every other day I take 2 to keep going and I have been off pain meds for a week. Oatmeal, coffee, raisins..nothing works...Doctor said this was normal and to take the Milk of Mag...I did and find it helps the best and no straining
Thanks for all the support.

3 weeks out...still so tired
Hi Maddy
You sound like you are doing just fine at week 3 :-)
I found that any period of activity had to be equalled by a period of rest, just the same as you. But doesn't it feel great to be out of the house running errand, almost like you are part of the real world again.
Sorry you are still having problems with the BM's, it took me a while to get them back to normal but at 13 weeks I don't even think about it anymore, it just happens :-)
Happy healing!
Katy

3 weeks out...still so tired
Hi Maddy
That you are off pain meds at 3 weeks is fantastic- and needing rest after runnng errands seems normal based on what I have read here. I am still needing 1-2 hrs laying down after being out, or cooking a larger than normal dinner.
Fiber one cereal (with honey clusters- much more tasty) and lots of liquids can help-12 g fiber per serving. Has worked for me on codeine. It is best to get to using your diet so that you don't have to take laxatives/stool softeners for too long. The lower level of activity makes it tough too!
Good luck!
