Burning Aching Thigh Pain Related To Endo?

Hi, my name is Jennifer. I have stage 4 endometriosis. I have had 6 surgeries related, including removal of my uterus and left ovary (seperate surgeries) My last 2 surgeries were in June and October of this year. After the surgery in June I started to have a burning, aching thigh pain. It is on the front of the thighs only and also my knees. It is sore to the touch as well. It wasn't everyday but a handful of times though the month. Since the surgery in October it has been more frequent. I had an MRI done on my spine that showed I have degenerative disc disease with a bulging disc, but it did not reveal any nerves being pinched, or compressed. I have had 2 ultrasounds since the surgery revealing 2 small complex cysts on my remaining right ovary. I pretty much have these constantly. I am wondering if this thigh pain is somehow related to endometriosis? Endo is inside my ovary, which is causing the chocolate cysts or endometriomas that I have every month. Is it possible the cysts are pushing on a nerve or endo is growing near a nerve? Would this have shown up on the MRI?

Thanks for any input!

Anything is possible! Cysts have been known to cause interesting pain and endometriosis can do all kinds of stuff!

Who is treating your back issues? I ask as degenerative disk issues can cause nerve pain. I have had issues with this in my neck and the pain radiates down my arm. I have found a neurologist to be very helpful for this type of situation.

Are you keeping a journal of your symptoms? This might help determine what might be causing the pain as well.

If you don't have an endometriosis specialist, now might be the time to consult with one. S/he might have some suggestions as well. I would think the only way to know for sure if endo is on or near a nerve would be another surgery and after as many surgeries as you have had, you would want the best of the best if you needed another one!

I am sorry I didn't have a better answer for you! in there! S

I have the same pain that you're talking about. My dr. says it's pain from endo on uterus radiating down leg. Don't know for sure about that.....I read somewhere that pain down thigh into knee can be a sign of endo being on the sciatic(sp?) nerve. My dr. didn't seem to think this was the case with me, but I think it makes sense! If I remember right, this is only the case with a certain leg....can't remember if it's left or right! Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply. I had a hysterectomy 4 years ago, so the uterus theory is out. I'm really thinking it has got to be endometriosis growing near some nerve. Or the cysts on my right ovary. I spent Sunday at the ER and found out I now have 3 cysts on that ovary. The thigh pain started after the surgery in June and got worse after the surgery in October. I wish I had kept a pain journal on it so I could see if there was a certain time of the month it was happening. I will from here on out.
