New Dr. today/added some testosterone

I saw my new Dr. this morning and I like him so far. He's a Dr. of DO. He looked carefully at my past bloodwork and the saliva test and we talked for a long while. He asked how I'm feeling now and what if any symptoms. I told him that I feel like my estrogen is off since I still get random hot flashes but I want to keep my progesterone where it is but that libido still isn't good.
He asked if I wanted to try some test. again. I was on 2 mg. daily a while back but I ended up getting VERY angry and wanted to fight with everyone over nothing.
I told him that I would be willing to try it again but in a separate cream tube. He agreed. He scripted me out 1mg. to be taken daily but he said I didn't need to take it daily if I didn't want to.
For those of you who take it but can be sensitive to it, how often do you use it? And at what dosage?
He did up my estrogen dose. I was at .05mg estriol and .05mg estrodiol and he up'ed it to .75mg.
I see him in 6 weeks and he'll do another bloodwork at that time to see where my levels are at.

I am on v-dot for estrogen, 20mg USP progest. and also test cream I can't remember dose but it is low. They told me I needed to occasionally take a break from prog. and test. We talked and decided to rotate the two, one one day and one the next. This works better for me than the stop all together and start back thing. I would just forget to stop or to go back. I have a hard enough time just remembering which one I used the day before.
I also had seen it suggested that we could use the progest. on our face and so I have been a small amount of my dose on my face, and I believe my skin has improved from this usage. TAH/BSO.

Trusting your Dr means so much. Best of luck with your new one. He sounds like a caring Dr.

My You probably already know this but...If you up your estrogen dose and add testosterone at the same time you will not know what's what. Work on straightening out the E first then the T. Try to add each slowly over a few weeks tracking your symptoms. You need an adequate E level to have a decent libido.
Good luck with the T. It made a big difference with my libido but it does take time.

I use 0.1% compounded testosterone cream daily (3/4 of a gm) and never had any problems.

My separate test. is .02mg a day. That isn't much at all. I didn't want much to start out with anyway. The first Dr. I went to had me on 2mg. a day -

New Dr. today/added some testosterone

My Dr. just prescribed .02ml to be taken daily. It's a compound cream. He also just up'ed my biest cream. I was on .05mg and now it's .75mg. I told him my libido was still non existent. I read now that estrogen can help with libido when it is in balance. I didn't feel like I was getting enough estrogen on my old dosage - that's why he raised it. I'm also taking 100mg progesterone (compound cream).
I know I should maybe wait and give the new biest dosage a chance to get into my system before starting the test. but I don't know.... He was going to put the testosterone in my biest/progesterone cream but I wanted it separate. In that small of a dosage, I'm wondering if I can just start using it now and not wait?? any suggestions?

In my opinion, you would be very wise to separate your estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone AND get a feel for what the new estrogen dose is doing for you first. Think about spending 6-8 weeks with it before you try the testosterone.

The hardest part of all this is the time it takes!!

Just one other thing... 100 mg per day of progesterone, taken transdermally, is a very large dose imho. That could also kill the libido as well as the energy level.

I NEED that high dose. My main symptom was anxiety so bad that it sent me to the hospital many times with major panic attacks. I couldn't leave the house. I spent my days curled up on the couch not able to eat or drink anything. Progesterone saved my life. My body is not ready to go on a lower dose of progesterone. I'll take the high dose of progesterone over anything else right now.

Well, unfortunately, it may come down to a tradeoff. You may just have to take the low libido along with the relief from anxiety if you want to use progesterone for that purpose.

Sea

I have panic issues with a low estrogen level. I did not do well on estriol/estradiol mixtures. Wasn't strong enough to lower my anxiousness/depression.

I believe what surferbabe said has merit ..too much progesterone can build up and kill the libido. The book Screaming To Be Heard, by Elizabeth Vliet MD has a lot of great info on progesterone. She warns about high doses of transdermal progesterone killing the libido.

Maybe when you try your higher dose estrogen you'll start feeling a little more frisky. Hope so...then you may feel less anxious and not need such a high dose of progesterone.
