Watery, smelly discharge....HELP?!

I thought I had already posted this question, but can't find it now. I think I'm losing my mind!

Last night I woke up at 4am to find my undies and pad soaking wet and my sheets damp. I thought that I had wet myself! I was up again at 8am and found the same thing, but with a color and a smell. As I watched thorughout the day, I found that I needed to change my pad every 2-3 hours or it would leak into my undies, clothes and even the bed, sofa, etc. It is an orange/pink color, but REALLY watery and it STINKS!

IS THIS NORMAL? WHAT IS IT? SHOULD I CALL THE DOC?

I hope that someone else here knows what I am describing and can at least give me some advice.

Thanks for your support.

hmmmmmm

I had a watery, bownish discharge that didn't smell too good but it wasn't that large of an amount so I don't know...you might want to call the dr. on that one??

Watery, smelly discharge....HELP?!

Phyllis, call your Dr. just to make sure everything is ok. It will help to put your mind at ease.

When I had my surgery, I had no discharge of any kind until exactly one week post; I had ventured to my computer (to check out these boards, of course!) when I had this huge gush of exactly what you're describing. It was awful and scared me half to death, as I was not at all prepared for it and had not been instructed that it was something that may happen.

I called my Dr. and he told me what I described was normal. I was instructed that if any bright blood appeared to call back; if just more of the same, continue to rest until my 1st post-op appt. which was to be 4 days later.

Once the initial gush was over, I had to wear a pad and the drainage continued for about another 2 weeks or so. When I had my appt, Dr. did a quick (and very gentle) internal exam, and all was ok.

Of course, this was my experience, so as I said at the beginning, please call your Dr. to discuss. Remember, you've had major surgery and need to take care!

Thank you !

I called my doc today and they said that it isn't common, but it's not unheard of either. I am supposed to watch for any changes, fever, nausea, etc. I have my 1st post-op scheduled for Tueday and they said to make sure I don't miss the appointment. Anyway, my mind is resting a little bit easier now.

Thanks for your responses and advice!

Phyllis B.
