TVT, 3 weeks post op a lot of pain/pressure

Hi,
I had a TVT placed 3 weeks ago and am still having a lot of post op pain. I told this to the Dr. at my 2 wk visit last week as well as, about some light bleeding that had started and he said that I was probably just doing to much.

I'd like to know if this pain/pressure is typical with this surgery. This sensation increases significantly when I have to pee and then slowly subsides until the next time I have to pee. It's really painful to try to cross my legs, at the knees, while sitting. I have to change positions a lot...sitting for a period of time or standing is difficult and brings about that heavy, painful-pressure sensation.

Some of my close girlfriends have said that I'm walking like I have just given birth vaginally. I don't know if the pain is just normal healing and adjustment to having the sling and the surgery or if I should be concerned?

Has anyone else experienced this type of pain/pressure that seems to come and go throughout the day?

Thank you

Please let me know if you get a reply as I am in my 5th week and seem to be experiencing the same as you regarding the sometimes pain but mostly pressure in vaginal area. I had a complete abdominal hysterectomy 5 weeks ago this coming Friday. This started about a week ago. Thanks.

TVT, 3 weeks post op a lot of pain/pressure

I too had the sling put in during my tah on 11-17-08. I have not had a lot of pain, just a little pressure feeling. I do have to get up at least 3 times during the night now to go to the bathroom. I don't know if it makes your bladder smaller or what. I used to sleep all night without having to get up and go(maybe 1 time if any). As far as the pain in general from the tah, I still am sore in my abdomen and I can tell if I have overdone anything because it hurts more than normal and I am more tired. I went for a 3 week checkup 2 days ago, and the nurse told me that I still am not supposed to be lifting, bending, kneeling, etc because of all of the internal stitches and healing going on in there. She told me just to walk as much as I wanted, but not to be dusting, cleaning and doing all the other things I feel like I might could do now. She told me spotting is still normal, but if I should start "gushing" let them know immediately. I didn't even think about asking her about the pressure issue. I am going to call today and ask if it is part of the healing process to be going so often now when I wasn't going that much in the past. I would call my doctor with any concerns just to be sure, as all of us that write in can only say what has happened to us individually. God bless you, and may you have a healthy, speedy recovery!
