if your infection was that bad and youve had more than one, you might want to ask your gyn about taking more than one dose of diflucan. i had trouble with them and the one or two doses just didnt get rid of them completely. i'd feel okay but within 2 weeks, i'd have another. my gyn put me on diflucan once a week for 6 months and i havent had another in probably 12-18 months. i did add acidophilus to my vitamins and also 2 green tea capsules a day. the whole combo of meds and vitamins seems to have worked. good luck!

The antibiotics cause it. If you take acidophillus or eat yoghurt whilst taking them you are less likely to get it. Using Difflucan is a bit of a waste of time if you are still on antibiotics but needs to be used after. Got not one thing to do with your underwear or soap. Glad you are getting on top of it as it sounds awful.

did it cause you to hurt in your abdomen. i recently got a really bad one. they told me in the dr office that they saw a hint of yeast, but not to treat it until after they told me because they wanted to see my other tests..well they forgot to tell me, then when they did it was just a couple of days, and i was bleeding and everything too...i even seemed to have it in the **ahem*** back... (blush). so i took 4 diflucan and had to use the monistat. i'm also eating yogurt and i do not think it is gone. my abdominal pain has gotten better though.

I have sworn by acidolphilus since I was about 17 years old and had bad recurring yeast infections. I can ususally tell when they are coming on. I will take somewhere in the vacinity of 10 to 12 pills of it in a day. Don't be afraid to take a lot, it is actually very good for your body, take a good quality tablet with lots of live cultures...4 at a time. You also want to make sure the yogart you are eating has live cultures in it, some of the generic ones do not. Good luck I hope it clears up for you soon. If you have any questions feel free to email me.

It's not just acidophilus, you're body need, it's all of the good "floura" try to find some "probiotics" they include all of the good stuff. But be aware, there are cheap competitors. They won't exactly be cheap and you have to keep tham refriderated, which means, that's where you'll find them. You may have to go to a health food store to get them, but they are worth they're weight in gold!!!! You should also avoid alcohol, if you're even drinking, Yeast FEEDS on beer. But you could get away with one glass of wine until you're in the clear. Good Luck!

the "fruity" ones are LOADED with sugar, sugar is also a huge cause! You can do Vodka(not flavored) and tonic or soda or gin and tonic. Clear, not flavored, and only tonic or club soda with it. Those are your best bets!

There is a book called "The Yeast Connection", it came probably 15-20 years ago, but I still use it. If you're really prone to yeasties, you have to learn how to combat them, but still have some quality of life!!!!! Good Luck

I take acidophyllus every day and since I have been on Antibiotics for Bladder and Wound infection ( 2 types a day for 2 weeks) I have been taking more than usual. Yeast infection has been a life long issue with me, so will do anything to avoid it.

Tip: Wash "down there" with baby soap or non perfumed soap.
Rinse your underwear in a solution of vineger and water, it neutralises
the laudry soap.
Eat less bread products (yeast)
Eat and drink less sugary foods and drinks
Unfortunately drink less beer (again the yeast)
Avoid using perfumed toilet paper unless just the cardboard inner is
perfumed.
I had my op on 12th November this year. I hope these tips help you or anyone else.
Cheers,

Yes. Yogurt will help. I begin eating at least 2 yogurts a day (i hate yogurt too) when put on antibiotics and the last couple of times I have done this I did NOT get a yeast infection. I ate a lot of yogurt and drank the acidophilus milk leading up to my surgery as I was expecting lots of antibiotics and have had no problems.

Though the perfumes in soaps/detergents are not the cause of a yeast infection, they certain can irritate that area a lot more after you have an infection and it certainly will help to cut out those perfumes.

Good luck!
