Trip to Florida 5 weeks post-op, good idea or not? Vaginal Hysterecomy
Well I was feeling so good 4 days after surgery. I thought I would feel just GREAT after 5 weeks. (even though I still wont be released to go back to work). I just though after all the hard work my hubby has done and the pain I endured it would be a good idea. I am starting to freak out because I feel like maybe I wont be ready to walk Universal Studios or the travel. I am flying so the worst will be St. Louis Airport. Did I make the wrong choice by booking the trip?

You're still early in your recovery, and you may feel better in a few weeks. Still, you are going to need to take it easy. Has your doctor given his okay for this trip? It might be a good idea to get his/her opinion on this. I hope you feel better soon.

At 6 weeks I did a long weekend away that involved an 8 hour road trip each way & was fine.
I went back on ibuprofen just in case, made sure we took breaks & rested when I could and I was fine.
Didn't fly though......
But what is the worst that can happen - maybe you could do the trip in a wheelchair or buggy if you are not up to the walking around.
I am sure it will be OK but make sure you give yourself the best chance to heal in the meantime.
Hugs
Katy

29 degrees here this morning... shooting for a high of 40. Florida sounds LOVELY right now... by foot, in a wheelchair, or even on a stretcher... or a nice pool side lounging chair ???
On the serious side... some folks have been known to have blood clot issues with air travel after surgery, so you will want to discuss the trip with your doc. But you probably have already done that. So, other than that... the airline and Universal should both have wheel chairs available to you, take advantage of their hospitality. If you need it it's there, if you don't you can put your luggage in it and push.
Have a lovely time! And bottle a little Florida sunshine and send it to Virginia, would ya?
