Prayers and support needed

My sweet hyster-sisters:

Thank you for all of your support. Tomorrow I go in for my appointment with the GI specialist to see what else is going on...I was nervous about this appointment (dealing with pain and gi problems before and after the big H almost seven weeks ago). I had mentioned in one of my other postings that I was also dealing with my best friend dealing with stage 3b lung cancer. I received a call from his dear wife and they have found a tumor in his brain. I was absolutely speechless. I told her that I would be there for support...but I felt so useless - when I choked up, it sent her going. Any advice on what to say to so a dear friend that may lose her husband and for me to say to support him? Funny, I have a major in communications - when you need crisis communications for work - I'm your gal. On the personal front, I find that I am at a loss for words. Please keep Mike and Maria in your prayers and if you don't mind, before you drift off to sleep, please say one for me too.

Much love,

Kel

Well, we really are like sisters, I've gone through two surgeries and likely facing a third. I can't begin to tell you what a blessing this forum is for me.

I will keep you in my prayers as well.

Much love and support,

Kel

Kel,

Unfortunately, we went through this earlier this year with a dear Aunt who had been living with us for more than 5 years. The diagnosis was the same and there are just no words.

You already done about the only thing you can do - offer your love and support and be there for your dear friends.

You and your friends are in my prayers.

Sometimes words are not necessary and they can, in fact, cause more harm than good. Being there as a compassionate presence, and simply listening are likely what your friend needs. And as things progress, offering to help with childcare, organize meals, and so on, will be much appreciated. Don't try to do it all yourself, though (especially if it involves lifting!). This is time to activate the community. Good luck, and God bless!

Kel, try not to think of your friends as sick. They want to be treated normal. but assuredly would appreciate rides to docs/chemo radiation meals and just you being there. you will know when they are tired or need some alone time.

In some ways the worst of times brings about life's real and most beautiful lessons.. for the patient and family and friends.

Give my love and light,
Ann

Thank you Ann. He was admitted to the hospital last night and will have the brain surgery on Monday. And you are absolutely right, he is not the cancer...as the saying goes, he has cancer, the cancer does not have him!

Thank you for all of your prayers!

Kelly

Just be there to hold her hand and listen. And don't forget to pray.
