hair loss after partial Hysterectomy?

I had an lavh/bso and my hair started thinning almost immediately.. I started using Nioxin shampoo and it has helped. I dont get the promised thickening effect but, I am not thinning anymore.

hair loss after partial Hysterectomy?

It's called Telogen Effluvium (google it for more info). It's a period of extra shedding when you have a 'shock' to your system, which the surgery is. If you read up on it you'll feel much better.

hair loss after partial Hysterectomy?

My hair was falling out like crazy too, and after one year it has started coming back in but I am still very, very thin in the sides of my forehead like a man's receeding hairline. It makes it very difficult to style my hair there. My doctor put me on prescription Folic Acid, but I can't really tell if it is working. Any other suggestions are welcomed.

hair loss after partial Hysterectomy?

I glad someone posted this because I had hair coming out in large amounts when I washed my hair. It seems to have slowed down a little now. I figured it must have had something to do with the surgery, as I never had it happen before.

hair loss after partial Hysterectomy?

Hopefully, this is some encouragement. My hair didn't fall out but it broke off really bad. I lost about 5 inches about two months after my abdominal hyst. (kept ovaries). It didn't start to grow back until a year and a half later. Now almost two years later, it's long and thick again. It's very frustrating.

Both my mom and I lost tons of hair too. It will stop (at least go back to the normal amount a person loses a day).

Me, too. I appreciate the google tip. My hair loss has stopped, I am back to my pre-op rate of hair loss (normal for me).
