If I were you I would call the hospital if your Dr. does not have an answering service. Most OBGYN's also deliver babies so your Dr. should have an answering service that can page him/her right away and you can talk to them immediately.

If your Dr. does not have an answering service I would go to the ER and have them check you out. Since I don't know if you had a VH or an AB I don't know if you have external stiches in the vaginal cuff area or internal if you had an abdominal Hyster.

Hope this helps

OH, Then the stitches in your vaginal cuff are exposed in your vagina and the bleeding most likely is coming from the stitches not being totally healed. It seems like the VH have more vaginal bleeding than AH.

I would call your Dr. answering Service and have them page the Dr.

This is spooky - I had my op on the same day as you. I had a TAH with horizontal cut. Yesterday when I was at my brother's house, I noticed a slight pink discharge on the toilet paper after urinating. It stopped overnight but has started again today with no real change in heaviness.

I've been told that this might be due to the internal muscle stitches starting to break down and be discharged from the vagina. How much bleeding can I expect, anyone? I haven't noticed any threads on toilet paper or towel yet.

started bleeding at 5 weeks post

I am around three and half weeks out of surgery (VH) and walking from one meeting to another at work started bleeding quite heavily. I did have someone ask me a weeks or so ago if I had had my '10 day bleed' yet-and I am thinking that this is it!? Good reason to go home, assume horizontal position and finish reading my book! but wanted to check in here as well. Seems too coincidental that we would all be around the same sort of distance out and having the same experiences? Never hurts to talk with the Doctor though...

Oh, this IS spooky! I'm another in the November 12th club. Mine was TAH and I haven't had any bleeding at all since leaving the hospital, probably because it was abdominal and I don't have my cervix? In any case, I would agree that any fresh red blood is reason to call your doc, or head to the ER.

It could be your granulation tissue bleeding from the surgery or other tissues if your tissue is friable. I also had this bleeding that started early this past Sunday morning. Called Dr. Sunday, said to call the office Monday for cauderization of tissues.
It can also happen if your tissues are hormone dreprived.
They use simple silver nitrate q-tips. This will stop the bleeding. (this is what they use on nosebleeds too). Ask you doc if this is a possibility.
The procedure is just like a regular vag exam. The q-tips sting though...
Good luck and don't freak out just yet!!

just under 4 week post op bleeding

Almost 25 days after surgery (11/24/08) I had a stitch or something in my vaginal cuff break and I'm bleeding (not profusely but more than just "spotting") doctor said this can happen once you start getting more active. It happened Friday night and have to wait until Monday morning to see him to have it checked out. I thought because my abdominal stitches were farther along so would my vaginal healing. Guess this is why they say 6 to 8 weeks for sex.
