Thickening of incision site?

Hi all, I had a partial hysterectomy on 12/16 with about a 6 inch incision at the bikini line (because of the gigantic fibroid that had taken over my uterus). My recovery has been great so far. Went for a post-op appointment with my doctor on 12/23 and the doctor removed the steri-strips and was amazed at my progress. Yesterday and today, the area around the incision seems thicker and hardened. Is this just scar tissue? Anything I should be worried about?

I had the same thing happen around that time. My Dr. told me that I had a special type of sutcher and that it was normal. She said that as the sutchers desolved it would soften. I don't know if you have the same type of sutchers or now - you may want to check with your Dr. to make sure she/he feels it's normal.

Those harder areas are the effect that your dissolvable stitches have on the fascia of that area. They can take a number of months to soften.
