My surgery was cancelled

I'm sorry your surgery was cancelled. I just wanted to say that even though I don't have any personal experience with the CA 125 test, my oldest sister had an elevated CA 125 before her hysterectomy. It is better that the doctors know what they are dealing with when they go in. It alters the way they handle things once they are in there. Also, I don't know what my sister's numbers were, but hers turned out not to be cancer at all. The only problem they found once they were in there was endometriosis. Her doctor told her that endo can sometimes cause the elevated CA 125. I hope you get it rescheduled soon.

I agree. Your doctor is probably trying to spare you having to prepare for two surgeries instead of one. If they were to start your surgery and be in need of an Oncologist and there was not one available, you would have to prepare for a second surgery. My CA 125 was at 210 due to my endometriosis. Hopefully your situation is also not so serious. Take care!

My surgery was cancelled

Missella-

You're not going to believe this one. I had a laperoscopy cancelled five minutes before I was going to be wheeled to the oporating room! They were about to put the drugs in my IV to start putting me to sleep. The anesthesiologist and my doctor came in and said they felt uncomfortable putting me to sleep without clearences from my neuologist and my cardiologist.

Now the really frustrating part was the fact that my doctors nurse when I had asked her, told me that I didn't need any clearences! Now I don't even ask. I just go and get them.

I hope you see the oncologist soon and get rescheduled ASAP. The other comments were right. If cancer is suspected, it can determine what aproach they take with you hysterectomy. Best of luck.

Becky, how awful! Five minutes before! After you get yourself all psyched out and prepared for it. When did you end up having it after that?

I didn't even go into that because that was so awful too.

The doctor reassured me that he would get me back on the schedule just as soon as I had the releases, at least by the next week. I drove straight to my neuologists office on the way home from the hospital and got that one. And I got the one from the cardiologist in a few days.

But - when I called and talked to the nurse at the office she said that of course my doctor was completely booked for several weeks out. She had no idea why he would have said he could get me back in so soon. I think it was about a month.

I really like him a LOT but his staff is really not my favorite.

Sorry to hear about your surgery being postponed. I found out in Nov. and postponed mine until after the holidays. How important is this CA125 test? My first result was 11 and my second was only 8. I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer and I am having a hysterectomy on thurs. jan 8. Thanks Mary

Does everyone get that test? I have never even heard of it before?
