I need some help for the next step.

Well I started BCP's on Sept 9th and have been on them everyday since then. I had 3 large spots of endmetriosis removed along with my tubes on Nov. 3rd and bled for 6-7 weeks. I finally stopped bleeding after I went off the pill for 7 days so I could have a regular period and then started them back up. Before I did this I tripled and then doubled up on my BCP's per docs orders and that didn't do anything. So now I am having a period yet again with pain and it is almost as bad as before.

I am just wondering what other options are out there. What could be the next med to try. I know the doc said something about DepoLupron? If that is the depo shot then no thank you I gained about 60 lbs in 30 days when I got on that after I had my son in 2003 and have never been able to get rid of the weight.

What else is out there that isn't with NASTY side effects? If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

Depo Provera, which is likely what you received before, is not the same as Lupron Depot. Lupron is a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists used to decrease the body's production of specific hormones such as estrogen which is believed to fuel the endometriosis. Depo Provera, on the other hand, is a synethic progestin.

The thing about side effects is that not everyone will have the same ones, if any! There are ladies who have loved Depo Provera and some who have not. Some who love Lupron, some who do not! We each have to work with our doctors to determine which meds we are willing to try and then hope for the best! It will also depend on what you are wanting the medications to do.

Other options could include Danazol, aromatase inhibitors, other forms of progesterone, different birth control pills, and alternative medicine such as acupuncture, massage, and chiropractic care. You could also check look for a doctor specializing in herbal and natural medical treatments.

I wish I could offer you the perfect answer for your situation but unfortunately, I can't. No one can. Do try to keep notes regarding your symptoms, work closely with your doctor, and keep researching! If possible, you may also want to consider seeing an endometriosis specialist.

I wish you all the best! s
