Feels Wierd When I Pee. Anyone else feel that?

Ever since my TAH six weeks ago it feels REALLY different when I pee. I told my mom I "pee like a race horse" - it's a lot stronger stream than pre-op!

However it feels strange. Is this because the bladder and urethra and whatever other parts are now finding their "new home" now that my uterus and ovaries are gone? I know they left a void in there...

I do not have a UTI. That was confirmed. I have no burning or pain when I pee. It just feels strange...just slightly uncomfortable.

Yes, my bladder acted strange for the first 5 weeks. It has taken some time but it is almost back to normal now. I am sure it is just from the trauma of the surgery & like you said, everything finding it's new space. Best wishes.

I feel like that too, like my stream of urine is really forceful now with a really strange almost painful feeling in the center of my abdomen when I pee, my Dr. had said the bladder can be irratated for a while, and that the body will close up that empty space over about a 6 month period. I am just thankful that I can pee, with all the women on here having such painful bladder issues!

Thank you so much! That info is helpful - the part about the bladder being irritated and it taking 6 mos to close up the empty space. I've never had internal sensation when i peed before surgery...this is all so new and strange. My doctor sure didn't prepare me for life post op! I've learned so much on this site and am so grateful to be learning that all I am experiencing is NORMAL! Whew!

U might ask and see if he happened to did a lil bladder lift while in there. My dr does them to everyone. It helps prevent that happy tinkle. Or in my case help cure it. It feels weird. I swear she lifted it a bit too high. I found myself having to lean forward to pee and lean back for the other lol. Now of course I ve got the dreaded UTI demon and peeing is just hell.

I experience the same thing and I see it as healthy, a good, strong, long...leak for want of a more ladylike word.

It will be two months for me on Tuesday and I feel what you described but also frequent urgency as well.

I also have a lot of uncomfortable abdominal swelling (even above my belly button) and gas still so I thought maybe all that was putting pressure on my bladder causing the urgency.
I'm not sure. I'd hoped that by the 7th and 8th week all this would've been over.

I was thinking about seeing my doctor again to check for UTI.

It's been 10 weeks since my TAH and it still feels weird when I pee. I have a strong flow but right as I'm finishing it feels like a slight pulling in my bladder.

I actually wake up in pain, I think because my bladder is full. Before surgery I got up several times at night and now I just wake once, but if it happens to be 3 or 4 in the morning, I am done sleeping for the night. I also have a painfully urgency to pee. It hurts when I first start and then like all of you I have a strong flow. My doctor said the tissues are irritated and it could take up to six months to heal. This seems to be just be an ongoing process, I can't wait until the process of healing is over.
